Default Fs: HIGHLY MODIFIED SPORTS CAR

Just felt like sharing the kind of ratards that drive miata's around here

http://sacridersforum.com/showthread...838#post127838

Quote:

1990 Miata, ton's of mods. Located in Placerville (near Sacramento)

R package lip front and rear
Stance Full Coilovers
Racing Beat swaybar
Autopower Roll bar
Red Hardtop
Sparco steering wheel
Techno Toy Tuning Hub extender
OBX Headers
Top Speed Pro-1 Exhaust
Shifter Extender
Techno Toy Tuning Shift ****
14x7 -9 Offset Konig Rewinds, specially modified to fit, silver on one side, satin black on the other
Kenwood MP3 CD Player
KG Works Rear Wing
Falken Azenis 195/60/14
Pulled and Rolled fenders
GarageStar/Techno Toy Tuning wiper cowl and radiator diversion plate in wrinkle black powdercoat
Valve Covers in wrinkle black
Exedy Clutch
Stainless Brake lines
Clean black interior
Endless Racing Brake Pads
Working AC!

Car has 165K miles on it, runs GREAT and handles like a slot car.

Comes with both hardtop and softop, but the soft top has no rear window, so it's more like a bikini top.
1990 1.6 with ricer bolt ons and a ***** shifter and he wants 4k. Only thing I see of value on that car is the hard top. In this area 4k will buy you a good condition NB, or a tastefully modified 94+ 1.8 easily.

He gets butthurt when I tell him his car is not highly modified. I really hope he talks smack so I can properly troll his ***

If thread doesn't show up lemme know I'll copy/pasta.
At work right now so don't know for sure if link works.

honestly i'd pay that, that's what completely stock 1.6 without a hardtop goes for here, and he did the labor of annoying things like coilovers/rollbar, and it has the desireable and annoyingly expensive lips, custom wheels, and powdercoating.

Doesnt make it fast or "highly modified", but it saves a ton of work if you want those components anyway. I'd offer 3500

I mean, look at the ---- termites around here:
http://raleigh.craigslist.org/ctd/2027057275.html
$7500 1.8 141k
http://raleigh.craigslist.org/cto/2022753949.html
$4500 1.8 170k
http://raleigh.craigslist.org/cto/2017157365.html
$5000 '90 with slipping clutch, 140k

the list goes on... '97 for 6500, '96 for 5400, '90 for 7000, none with hardtops or any aftermarket parts (besides chrome)

I don't troll that forum. Its my local bike forum that I have some friends on and actually like visiting.
That guy signed up on a BIKE forum and after 3 posts makes a for sale thread for his riced out MIATA. No one there knows him or likes him. If it were here he'd be banned already.

And I didn't tell him to go here. Just mentioned that if he were to post that on a REAL miata enthusiast forum he'd get eaten alive.

Don't worry, this won't turn into any type of forum vs forum thing. Just a good laugh for some of us at what some consider a "highly modified sports car"

There is some douchefag selling a 1.8 NA and advertising it as a "Mazdaspeed" in Chattanooga...the ad is gone now, but it was just some NA with some **** thrown on it and spray painted stock wheels...being advertised more then what it really was. I hate that ****.

Is it just me, or does this intake placement seem totally asinine?

That's where it is stock. He just threw a square to round adapter and filter on the afm.

Hardly. Yes, that's approximately the stock physical location of the VAF sensor, however in the complete stock setup, there's a plastic snorkel pipe which draws cold air into the filter box from outside the engine compartment through a hole in the fender. That's pulling hot air through the radiator and across the exhaust manifold, which is probably the worst position imaginable.

I'm not saying it isn't terrible, but stock isn't much better, still draws from the engine bay. Not exactly a CAI.

iMad and moddedpenis are from another forum

And yes that is by far the worst intake ever.
The way its "modded" I'm sure a stock one would beat it both in straight line and cornering.

Hell, he probably can't even use it for what its "built" for: with a whopping 85whp it probably can't even break the rear loose if it tried.

How is it not much better? Have you seen the difference in ait's between a filter on the turbo style setup and one that's routed to the front/side and shielded by a cold air box or something similar?

The differnece is significant to say the least.

The POS he has is sucking air DIRECTLY from the hot radiator and scorching hot header, whereas the stock system is drawing it quite a ways away.
The difference in AIT's would be HUGE.

Huh. It's been so long since I've seen a stock NA intake I'd honestly forgotten that they don't penetrate the fender. Well, scratch my last, I suppose.

That thread is getting pretty good, actually.

The whole point of this thread is that he claims it to be a highly modified sports car.

I never said it was a total abomination. Nor did anyone else.
