The differnece is significant to say the least.

The POS he has is sucking air DIRECTLY from the hot radiator and scorching hot header, whereas the stock system is drawing it quite a ways away.
The difference in AIT's would be HUGE.

Yea actually I have seen measurements and dynos of stock vs this style. Though the memory gets hazy, it was years ago, back when there was a miata powerlist. I don't think it really made that much of a measurable difference in power when it came between flow vs heat. Granted that was probably with the factory heatshield in place.

Actually looks pretty close to how Randy Stocker had his RX7 afm setup.

I see 2 or 3 ghetto/ebay go-fast parts. $4,000 bought me an unmolested garaged 96 with 70k. **** this guy.

And I totally didn't even think of Sac Riders. That's quite humorous

I think it looks good independent of the price.

You've got to take into consideration that dynos are typically done w/ the hood open, that thing is sucking in much cooler air than it would be cruising down the highway.

I like how you can tell a "ricer" from someone who simply does performance mods on an import car. This particular ricer claims his car has "headers". That's funny cause I only see one.

We're getting too picky. That's a fine example of a slightly modified Miata. The add may be dumb, and he might not get the price he's asking, but that's exactly why we have rules in our classifieds section. If it's too high, no one will buy it, so who cares.

That's the exact intake I had and raced for 2 years. Might not be the best, but it took care of some weight and never gave me problems. I'd do it again if I had a DD NA.

AIT with the snorkel off the airbox was 148-154F at idle
With the snorkel going to the fender, same day just added it on, AIT was around 114f idling

I had that exact same intake on my 1990 way back. The car went faster with it.

Honestly, $4,000 around my area is a reasonable price, maybe $500-$750 high. Overall the car isn't THAT badly riced. Remove the gold foil from around the exhaust (going to be shooting fireballs like a PP rotary!) and paint the wheels matching colors and it would be decent. Oh, and fix the intake.

I'd take those wheels. Put some Goodyear slicks on them. Muy JDM.

EDIT - And just to add fire to the intake debate, even with the stock airbox pulling air from the edge of the bay, I can't imagine that the curved side of the airbox, which kind of hugs the exhaust manifold, is doing much to keep the air cool either.
