This is what happens when I don't respond to my "Hey buddy......you using your truck right now?" text messages.

I mean why would you pay the $50 delivery fee? You already paid $1500 for the TV. They are just trying to screw you. Way to stick it to the man!

The first thing I noticed was not the TV, it was the fact that a man was driving that abomination of a car.

Oh, and ******' air resistance, how does it work?

Looking at this, I'm torn...

Ok, on the one hand it seems a tad ridiculous.

On the other hand, it's making me tally up all of the "unusual" things I have carried in my car.

8 foot long section of finished countertop
Sofa
50 gal water heater
Several 4x8 sheets of plywood
Lawnmower
Mattress

I mean, the only thing I would have done differently would have been to use some of the ratchet-straps which I carry in the trunk to secure it.

Yeah, I was struggling with that. I have no idea whether you're allowed to lay those things down flat. Didn't see any "this end up" symbols on it...

Actually large flat panels you have to keep upright. A lot of them have built in levels on the top of the box that release dye if they were tipped over too far. For lcds and plasma the glass can easily shatter. For plasma the gas collects on one end and If you don't leave it upright for a few hours before turning it on it will ruin the screen.

Things I have "hauled" in my Miata:
  • A 8.5 foot tall red plum tree, potted, complete with plums and all, over 15 or so miles, on the freeway
  • 32 pieces of cut boards, to build a 6.5 foot tall cabinet.
  • An outdoor table for 8, again, on the freeway.
  • A solid wood dining table
  • Water and wine glasses and silverware for a wedding for 200 guests.

Incidentally, my wife was with me on all above "projects".
Laughter and mayhem ensued.
There were no problems, either.

A cop pointed and laughed, even.

A kayak in the passengers seat, complete with paddle. 70 miles of interstate @ 70mph.

No way man- they're holding on to the packaging straps with their hands! They did the same thing with the last mattress they bought and it was fine.

Guy at work got a call from the hospital about 6-8 months ago. Seems the wife bought a matress, and was hauling it home on the back of a pickup. It was tied off with rope through the cab, and when the wind caught it, she grabbed the rope. Degloved her hand, and nearly severed the index finger. Several operations later, she still isn't quite right.

I started to pull this yesterday with my 55'' Toshiba. I went originally just looking, but ended up deciding to buy. I played it smart and called my pops to bring his Bronco. Was just going to let the top down and wedge it between the a-pillar and roll bars on the passenger side and ride in the 30 degree cold for 15 miles on the interstate.
