Default Fun day

After just successfully installing my WI, i decided to go tune out in this 90* weather. I was going to do use MLV but my target tables wouldn't transfer from my MSQ and it takes too long to input them 1 by 1. So i decided to just turn autotune on and keep a close watch on my AFR gauge. After about 2 minuets of driving i decided to do some more so i headed for a 15 mile loop up around the rock quarry. AFR are pretty much right where i want them so i pull off to the side and start bumping the timing 2* at 150 kpa across the board. Wow; I felt the difference next gear rolls through and PSHHHH .... car dies i pull off and pop the hood, intercooler pipe blew. No biggie right? First i forgot a flathead screwdriver and i burnt myself 4 times getting the pipe back on since it was a real tight fit. Luckily another miata enthusiast with a 96 saw me and stopped to help for a bit. I had to drive 5 miles to the nearest store and then fuss with getting the coupler back on for half an hour. No more shitty greddy couplers. Im welding some 2.5" pipe on the outlet and use a real coupler and some t-bolts. Waiting for the car to cool off to pull the manifold.

blowns huh (pun intended)? That's one thing I miss about map based setups, at least you could make it home to fix it.

are the ends beaded? t-bolts look good but a worm clamp works fine with beaded ends. for a quick fix you can run a bead of weld...or just make this diy bead roller with channel locks, a washer, and an exhaust clamp.
