Ya'll remember a couple of weeks ago when SMR censored an election debate thread? Turns out his complaint is that I wrote "WTF" and "MILF" ... apparently he and/or Miata.net management can't handle adults alluding to (but not even actually writing) this word:

Good thing Jay and Silent Bob don't drive MSMs.

Also, in a recent PM, SMR expressly told me what he thinks of most of YOU - the regular forum members:

"The majority of the guys on this list can't handle plugging in a O2 mod and your going to talk up the MS???"

That's right. He thinks YOU'RE all idiots ... yet HE wrote 'your' in there again.

SMR aka Larry Alster is a royal PITA. However, the best place for him is as a moderator. That means he has to censor what he says - to a point. Personally, he does not know squat. I had to show him that his 91 did not have the coil on the plug like his MSM does. So when he expresses that others cannot screw in an O2 sensor, remember he is probably referring to himself.

Don't come here if you are hoping to see proper usage of the english language! The last thing we need is yet another person complaining about spelling and grammar instead of trying to help a poster. That job is already adequately filled.

These forums aren't a public service, they are a business. Any business owner has to protect his interests, to do otherwise is stupid.

After this post, I will no longer participate in the MSM forum.

But first: a big THANK YOU to all the individual members who helped me ever since I got my car (second Miata overall) in Feb. 2006.

I'm leaving this forum for two reasons. The main reason is censorship. I live in America, where there's free speech. So unless I say something that directly endangers people, i.e. screaming "Fire!" in a crowded theater, then I'm protected, no matter what others think of what I said.

Apparently Mr. Gary Fischman, who owns Miata.net and Mazda-Speed.com, does not feel that way.

I questioned why a recent, non-violent thead about the election was deleted. SMR told me in PM, "I can not allow language issues anymore. I have been told to keep the site family clean."

He said the offending words were my use of "MILF" and "WTF" even though I only used the acronyms, not the actual words.

Today, I got an email from Gary, with the subject line "Back off," in which he said: "Please don't take public shots at me, the moderators, or Miata.net. You want to do it on another site, I can't stop you. But I won't accept it on my sites. If a moderator does something you think is over the line, let me know. Otherwise, how about we at least pretend to get along? Thanks for understanding." (bold emphasis is mine)

Now we know how M.net/MS.com ownership thinks: Gary sees these forums as if it's China, and NO DISSENT IS TOLERATED.

Moreover, as I mentioned last night in a posted that SMR deleted (including the replies), SMR himself recently said to me in another PM: "The majority of the guys on this list can't handle plugging in a O2 mod."

So, we've got the ownership here acting like dictators, and a top moderator who has NO respect for his own constituents.

Which makes me wonder: what the <synonym for fornicate> am I doing here?

If anyone else has a problem with forum management's behavior, then I suggest you do two things: 1., come on over to miataturbo.net, where maybe it's a rougher environment but the rules are FAIR, and 2., vote for Obama, lest our whole country be controlled by people like Gary Fischman.

SMR: please close my account. And if you and/or Gary have any spine left, then show it, and leave this post intact.

The fact that we run a fairly loose ship here does not mean that we condone asshats antagonizing the management of other forums about the way they run their site.

Keep MT out of your rants on other forums. Don't agree to rules you have no intention of following.

Why is everyone so proud about getting banned on other forums. It's not hard to do. Particularly when they have rules and regulations that are actively enforced. Mod's will try to edit or delete posts to keep things under control. That's their job. When a poster then goes back after the mods, suprise, you get banned. Gary's response was pretty reasonable.

It's fun to screw with people at other forums. Just don't drag the fight back here. Anyone can go to mnet and start dropping f bombs, slamming the mods, etc. Get more creative.

The "this is America, free speech thing" is irrelevant. You are not on a public forum but a private one. They can run their site any way they like.


Jeez I'm getting tired of all the newbs coming in with this teen age rebellion and angst bs. Just reminds me what an a-hole I was at that age.
