my lower back, kneck, legs, and head hurts from the 3 hour drive. I'm a pussy.

I remember driving my buddy's typeR Integra at 80mph for a long drive- annoying vtec high rpm buzz... which wasn't that high for a vtec.

oh yeah, the 440/350 springs and super stiff dampers don't help either.

Try 700/325 for a 4 hour drive (with stock 4.3 ring and foam modded stock seats)

magnamx-5 02-10-2007 09:42 AM

i need to do something about my seats as well after 1 hour they shouldnt make my legs fall asleep.

xturner 02-10-2007 10:13 AM

My legs had problems, too - I think maybe the seat butt-pocket was in the wrong spot. Same with my old Integra. I have this little inflatable pillow from some back-problem store - goes into the space where the backrest meets the bottom - and problem solved. Cost like $10. If your foam isn't shot, maybe a pillow will help.

LOL, I have the same setup on the springs, (well heavier in the rear but 700's upfront.) It will rattle your fuckin' teeth out. And yes, I've driven it cross country. 11 Hours. The Mazdaspeed type F racing seats are reasonable comfortable though.

500/400 @ 150 miles daily for the win..

Splitime 02-10-2007 11:16 AM

lol, I win.

16k/14k, buddy club seat, 5pt harness... 16hrs....

Wasn't actually bad. KYB SSGs held those rates well... and the seat fit like a glove. But holy crap was it a long time to sit in that 5point.

y8s 02-10-2007 11:27 AM

tein 7/6, 3" exh, removed foam... SF to DC in 4 days.

'90 Miata with 220k no heat or AC Orlando to Boston nonstop. Honestly don't remember what springs and shocks the cars had but it doesn't really matter, the car was riding on the bumpstops the entire time, I had shipped my clothes and loaded the Miata with my library of books (cheaper that way) so it was SLAMMED. The trunk and passenger footwell were full, the rear deck and passenger seat were full to the point that I had no visibility. I ended up having to make a detour in NY so the entire trip took 22 hours, got into Beantown at 8AM, just in time to work a 16 hour shift at my new job...

early 80s C20 reg cab long bed with no heat or a/c, pulling a loaded double axle trailer, 15000 lbs (max gvwr was 10k lbs), San Antonio to Atlanta

Max speed achieved on level road at WOT: 50 mph.
Travel time: 48 hours, minus 7 hours at a motel

Entire trip was at WOT. Had to pull over every 45 minutes and give the truck a short break to prevent overheating. One some hills, the truck would slow down to 30-35mph. Bet the people behind me on 2 lane I-20 loved it.

I made the trek from OKC back to dallas today to take care of some shit bfore my months and months of work start. I hope I don't break my hookah on the way back. I have me emergency tool bag, laptop/notebook atache, and coat in the trunk, and a big ass luggage in the front, with my man back and some other shit between the harness bar and the ht. Hehe, traveling in a miata sucks.

WRX GC8 02-10-2007 06:41 PM

I had a sparco evo 2 in my Subaru w/ a 6pt. Straight-thru "muffler" and resonator, catless 3in tbe.

by the end of the 8hours it takes me to get from home to school I thought i was going to need to amputate my dead ass.

I find that using earplugs on long rides helps make it more bearable though. I even use them in the miata and it's more or less stock.

Don't be so quick to declare victory... Lancaster, CA to Orlando, FL with a supercharged Miata that had the throttle post blower... Any idea how obnoxious that 3000 mile journey was??? That's right 30 hours of unthrottled blower!!!

300/233 & FCM bumps with nice padded leather seats FTW. ;)

Savington 02-11-2007 06:07 PM

Longest trip I've taken in my car was 45 minutes to Pacifica in my Start. I felt fine. No back or leg problems at all. That was on stock suspension, though, so we'll see what happens with the new stuff. :P

hustler 02-11-2007 06:43 PM

I'm about to go back. Hehe, another 3 hour beating.

Atlanta93LE 02-11-2007 07:39 PM

Alfa Romeo race car...exhaust tore off on day 3 of 9 day, 6000 mile drive/race (One Lap of America) loud...stripped...windows open due to exhaust accumulating in the interior...raining 5 of 9 days (on the inside of the car as well)...no heat, no AC, no radio...5-pt harness and race seat...standing water inside...

All this after a blown engine on day 1, resulting in an overnight engine swap in a parking lot with nothing but a Craftsman hand tool set and a floor jack. Character-building.
