Default Garage Distraction

So I was working on my $50 motor in the garage and a hawk flys in chasing a smaller bird. I'm exclaiming "HOLY ****!" at the time but it was pretty funny.

The hawk seems confused and I think it hit it's head, it just hangin out at the upper level of the garage lol.

Afraid to go open the window cause I might freak the hawk out and it might hurt itself. Just going to wait until it flys out the garage door lol.

I've had small birds fly into the garage and run into windows being dumb but never a hawk. I guess living out in BFE country has some to do with it.

Wow, that's crazy, I'd be more concerned about him hurting ME if I scared him than him hurting himself though.

Hawks are awesome. Any time I get a chance I like to watch one in action, but it's rare to see one. I have a dumb bird fly into my upstairs window nearly daily and it always scares the **** out of me since I sit by the computer right next to it. Sometimes even squirrels jump at the glass and bounce off.

Nothing scares you more than a bird flying in when you're sitting there beating your meat to some gay **** eh?

I live at the base of "Hawk Mountain" which is a tourist / hiker attraction from all over. Anyway, on Christmas day I was driving over the mountain to my parents house with my fiance, and there in my lane of the road was a red tailed hawk chompin down on the carcass of a road kill red fox. I thought it would fly away when I got to it, but it didn't spook it at all, it just sat there feastin away. I swearved nicely, and let it continue, and I yelled, "holy ****, did you see that?" She's like "see what? Did a deer run across?" I'm like, what was she lookin at??? A freakin hawk almost gets run over by ME while feastin on a freashly hit fox and she misses it???? I think she was playin with her I-phone or somethin...

no ****, when i was in boy scouts, our troops camp was at hawk mountain, spent lots of time there as a kid

pretty awesome bird, the hawks i'm used to seeing are MUCH bigger. I remember one time there was a hawk sitting on the hoop of my neighbors basketball net and it's head was nearly to the top of the backboard

edit: this actually appears to be an immiture coopers hawk

I think you can see a flesh wound on hawk's head..

Hope he returns to dispensing justice on the food chain & doesn't die.

Yeah when I went to go open the window the bird was up on the rafters. It freaked out and fell to the floor and it definately looked dazed. He's long gone now though heh.

Any confirmation what kind of hawk it is? I could post it on a bird forum lol.

Nope.

Bird in question is a Cooper's Hawk.

I see Red-Tail Hawks around here regularly and those suckers are BIG....well, big considering the other birds around here. If you manage to get within 20ft of one you'll realize how big they are.

As for funny road stories- Jenn and I were driving out in Utah and saw a big sign on the interstate that said ....

Several months ago I awoke to the sound of crows going nuts in my front yard. They were trying to harass this immature red-tail into leaving, but the hawk just sat there eating its breakfast on my lawn. I guesstimated the wingspan to be about 2.5 feet.

Leftovers. Seems the hawk enjoyed the heart, lungs and liver, but did not care for intestines.
