Gearwrench stubby set--half price

Went to sears briefly yesterday and saw they happened to have gearwrench stubby sets at half off, $30 regularly $60. I picked up a metric set for myself.

+1 I got a set the last time they were on sale. GREAT tools...a must have!!

I've been wanting a set for a while now. Might go pick one up.

Is this a good deal? Seems pretty good to me.

Looks like it is a pretty good deal compared to Sears price.

Me too. Deb was with me at Sears, and gave me shit about buying my 4th set of metric ratcheting wrenches(they're all different types).
This is the first time I've seen these stubbies under $40-45, including both in store and online.

Not sure really how useful the biggest wrenches are there--and I'm a huge proponent of having an overkill tool box. Here's a BlackHawk (BlackHawk:MAC :: BluePoint:SnapOn) set that I also own. IMO, a much better value. These are even a bit less than I paid for mine

I'm going to have to get a job that pays more if I'm going to continue looking at this thread.

:) Short of hitting the lottery, I'm not sure the hobbiest can ever earn enough income to totally satisfy their tool fetish--especially when buying the "truck" brands.

Amen. I love the truck brand tools, but I'm content with HF; I get way more quantity, and they hold up just fine for the usage they get. Plus, they're good about honoring their lifetime warranty on hand tools in-store, at least the one near me, even when it is obvious I "altered" tools for special purposes.

Maybe some day, when I figure out which tools get used to death, I'll spring for some good stuff of those.

Sales' over, my local store won't honor it.

i picked up a set of gearwrench e torx wrenches sitting on one of those random discount shelves at sears. i was so surprised they had them i think i walked halfway to the register before i really realized what happened. i wanna say i paid like $15 or something silly like that.

i love ratcheting wrenches, but the times when they would be really useful they never quite fit.

Ben 06-09-2008 11:12 AM

some ratchet wrenches are thicker than others. that's why I got one set that's standard, no offset, and do not reverse. they can typically fit in limited clearance areas.

my new 10mm stubby got a workout yesterday evening. it was the perfect tool to remove radiator brackets in the exploder. I'm so glad that it decided to fail at 5.30 pm on a sunday :vash:

Dam, wish I saw this. I think I paid $18 for a single stubby 11mm gearbox.
