Getting the kid ready for kart racing early...

Actually a helmet for reshaping a flat back of the head, but I figure it'll get him used to a helmet for junior kart racing. I was going to start his older brother kart racing this year, but they just raised the lower age limit from 3 to 5. Damn.

That's awesome. But why do kids get flat heads in the back? Laying in be too much?

Braineack 08-30-2007 02:44 PM

dude, shape it square instead!!!! how cool would that be?!

sucks about the age limit...start um young and they'll pay for your next lexus in a few year ;)

Because they found that lying kids on their backs to sleep lowers the incidence of SIDS (sudden infant death syndrome), so they've been pushing for kids to sleep on their backs for years now. Considering that kids heads are growing, softer than adult skulls, and they sleep 2/3 of the day, there has been a lot more flat heads. Now a flat back of the head is no big deal but my son was angled flat so it was causing his head to become asymmetrical with one ear pushed forward and the other back so he got the helmet.

Often deadly, IIRC.

Often deadly? Yes, that's why it's called Sudden Infant DEATH, and not sudden critical injury. :gay:

He's 6 1/2 months old.

Why is that wrong? I'm not pushing my 3 year old into kart racing. He loves driving his little motorized power wheel car and has repeatedly asked to go "racing." Why not let him have fun in a controlled environment and see if he really likes it. Plus, it'll teach him early about car control and prevent bad habits from forming in terms of regular street driving. In fact, when running around the house, he has learned to slow down before and accelerate out of the corner so he doesn't take a spill. :gay:

I wish. My wife picked out a freakin' puppy design. :td: I'll just have to put vinyl racing stripes on it when she's not looking. :bigtu:
