Getting ready to pass another kidney stone...
I feel like someone hit me with a truck.

That sucks dude. Hope you feel better soon.
|
Damn, that sucks dude. I hope I never have to go through that....
|
I pity you friend. I hope to never have another. Had 2 in the last 2 years, and the last was removed by surgery. Not much to do but suffer in agony until it passes. Of course strong pain meds help a ton, if you have any.
|
I've never had a kidney stone. Can you describe the pain?
|
The worst pain you've ever felt, times some multiple.
|
worse than having an old man with a knife slice up your penis?
|
You have my sympathy. Worst pain I ever felt, and I never want to have another.
BTW, large doses of vitamin D (2000 units a day) will help prevent them. |

The first time I had one was much more severe pain, literally laying on the floor in tears until I got a ride to the ER. The second time was a bit more dull pain, maybe only 75% as bad, but it lasted for 4 to 5 days, on and off, before I finally decided it was time to go to a doctor. Good luck man, hope it passes well. How many have you passed? Calcium reduction is recommended, and I think Vitamin D binds certain components related to calcium, or something. I would have thought it the other way around. I do know to avoid excessive sodium, sugar, protein and oxalate. Oxalate is found in a lot of veggies, beans, including coffee, leafy greens, including tea, as well as some other things I enjoy eating. The most troublesome things, and the things calcium oxalate prone people should avoid the most is chocolate, tea and coffee, cola and most beans, as well as leafy greens. I used to down nearly a gallon of tea a day, along with a lot of coffee drinks, chocolate, loved beans and leafy greens, so my diet was terrible for stones. I've eliminated most and cut back on all of it the best I can, and have increased my water intake a lot, which is the most important thing. Drink that water! I drink roughly 80-100oz of water a day, plus an additional several glasses of fruit juice. Lemon in the water helps, since citric acid is one major preventative substance. Before I had surgery for my last one, I drank a LOT of lemon juice, and it apparently had an effect, because the laser they used to break it up, turned it into powder. So it was softened by the juice. Had it been smaller it may have dissolved away. |
I'm home sick from work today with what fits the symptoms for the flu, but now I don't feel quite so bad for myself. I'm sorry for you.

This is the second one I have had. The first was 2.5 years ago during Thanksgiving. I had just been in a car wreck two days before and thought I was having muscle spasms in my back. I passed the stone about 4 days later (it only came out part way and got lodged in my penis). I walked around with it in there for a few hours until I pissed again. It was about the size of a Rice Krispy.
This time I drank a lot of alcohol and popped pills until I passed out. I've spent most of the last 24 hours in bed (and that was after already sleeping for 8 hours). I feel like I have the flu right now (sore and tired) but I think that is just from laying around. |
The Air Force gave me vicoden (SP?) when I had mine. Win. Washed down with some mad dog.

Good luck with your stones.
A coworker of mine passed a few of them and he said it was the worst pain he's ever had. Another guy I knew passed somewhere around 200 of them. He kept them and he named all of them until he ran out of names. I asked him what the biggest on he ever passed was and he said, "9mm in diameter". He said it was like pissing out broken glass. For everyone who doesn't know what a kidney stone looks like, it's not smooth. It looks similar to those little round spikey balls that stick to your clothes if you run through a field. Therefore, I cannot imagine a spikey ball that's rock hard coming out of my penis that's 9 MILLIMETERS IN DIAMETER. |
had one. Hurt like shit. It went from "oh my back is tense" to "TAKE ME TO THE DAMN HOSPITAL" in about 2 hours. Injected me with something and I was good.
They gave me ungodly amounts of Vicodin for two weeks. Happened the morning of my 21st birthday. Doctor told me to drink lots of fluids, so jokingly I said good I planned on it, he goes what do you mean. Told him it was my birthday and I planned to spend most of it intoxicated. Told me it would only make it worse. I was sad. Young cute nurse came in and said if it was her, she would drink shit tons of cranberry juice and go get sloshed and hope for the best. |
Well, it has been two weeks and I never did see/feel that I pissed it out. I'm guessing I just missed it and it is long gone. I was worried for a few days because I thought it was hung up or something. Hopefully it will be at least another 2.5 years before the next one.

Can't you get them smashed with ultrasound?
