I was thinking about the Eagle GT, which happens to be an asymmetrical all season, but is not the Eagle F1 asymmetric all season.

Buy them, they're incredible.



And in the long run, you may find it more economical to run dedicated summer and winter tires. Not to mention you won't have to compromise year round.

+1 on dedicated summer and winter shoes. Especially if you have snow/ice. I love running snow tires in the winter, it really keeps my car from sliding off the road in the canyon.

Dude. I never said they were awesome. I first said they are a pretty aggressive, sticky tire. They ARE an aggressive tire, as illustrated by soft compound and horrible wear compared to all-seasons, but apparently they're not actually sticky when compared to good tires. I JUST learned that. I thought they felt pretty good, but I have very little experience with a lot of this stuff. The only other experience I have with summer tires is the RE11's that were on Vlad's car when I bought it, and I drove that car maybe 2500 miles, and 1200 of them were from Michigan to Utah.

I also have not ever had different tires on the GTO, and I have felt pretty satisfied with the grip in the dry. That doesn't mean I think they're awesome, that just means I HAVE LOW STANDARDS AND DON'T KNOW WTF I'M TALKING ABOUT. Which is why I'm here asking questions. Cuz you guys have the experience that I don't.

As for dedicated summer/winter tires......... The least-expensive winter tire carried at Discount Tire is $206/tire. That's a whopping $50 MORE than the Continental DWS (great tire), and about $35 more than the current #1 UHP all season, the Michelin Pilot Sport A3. There's no way I'm dropping that kind of coin, plus mounting and balancing OR storing a set of wheels who-knows-where. I live in a 600 sq ft apartment with a small storage closet that is full. I have room for my tool bag, a floor jack, and an oil catch can...... out on my deck. I do not have space to store a whole set of tires. It's just not practical. someday, sure, but not at the stage of life I'm at right now.

I'm trying to do the best with what I can afford and what I have access to.

I live in a 650sqft apartment, i own 6 cars, i run dedicated summer setups on all of them except for 1, which wears All Terrain Off Road tires year round.

We can't all be so lucky. My wife likes to see me enjoy my car and she's very tolerant for someone who absolutely does not care and has no interest. But she won't have extra tires floating around.

We give a little. It's all good, she's worth it.

.....But I do wish she wanted her own race car.

tl;dnr: Michelin Pilot Super Sports if you are a gentleman of esteem and reknown; Continential DWS if you are aspiring to a better life; Dunlop Direzza DZ101 if you don't know anything about performance tires and think pulling .5 lateral gees is extreme


Buy suspension, then wheels & tires. If you downsize diameter, you are likely going to end up with even more wheel gap for which you will be rightfully mocked and ridiculed, including references to thinks that gape.
