Since I know my mt brethren have all sorts of random hobbies, I am soliciting y'all for your RC knowledge!

I have a Razor scooter that I use to get to class, and after seeing a recent electric skateboard design, I have been inspired to electrify my scooter.

I need you guys and your knowledge to see if my parts list so far should work together in harmony, and provide what I want. I am planning on using a DC brushless motor and Li-Po battery.

Motor: 730 kV, max 128 A, max 5280 W. At 22.2 Volts it should be spinning at roughly 16,000 rpm. At 22.2 Volts and 125A, will be making roughly 2750 Watts or 3.7 HP, I think that sounds like a good number :).

Turnigy TrackStar 1/5th Sensorless Brushless Motor 730KV

Battery: I am planning on using two 11.1V 3s batteries in series to get up to 22.2 V. Using two of the 3s instead of a 6s for packaging reasons. Batteries are rated as 5000 mAh, 35 C constant, 11.1 V. So they can supply 175 Amps Maximum.

Turnigy 5000mAh 3S 35C Lipo Pack

Speed Controller: Rated at 150A continuous, which is slightly less than the batteries max output. I'm not sure if the batteries max output or the ESC rated output should be higher for safety reasons. This also has a BEC that outputs 5.75 V at 3 A, which I am planning on using to power a 5V voltage regulator which will then be used with the throttle potentiometer as the 0-5V signal that the speed controller requires.

Hobbyking 150A Sensored/Sensorless Brushless Car ESC

Throttle: I think I'm just going to use this throttle even though it's pretty expensive and I could probably come up with something on my own for cheaper. These are supposed to be built well, so I'll just go with it. Basically twist throttle 0-5k pot.

I say this is cool, that's what I say.

I think the drive system is going to be your biggest bet. I know you can weld, but do you have any machining abilities? Getting a sprocket to bolt to the motor is probably going to be pretty easy, but getting one to bolt to your scooter is going to be the hard part. The rest is just wiring, brackets, and zip ties.

This will be RWD, yes? My guess is you're going to have to cut off the back, and a wider swingarm/fork to fit the wheel plus sprocket.

After watching that video I really wish I knew how to long board.

Ah yes, I forgot to add that disclaimer. Assume I have unlimited welding/maching abilities. I've been doing machining stuff for one year less than I've been welding. I have access to a mill/lathe/cnc a mile from my house, as well as a fully loaded student machine shop at school.

I am going to cut off the current wheel mount and rebuild it allowing for both the drive sprocket and possibly a disc brake if I figure out I need one. I already have the sprocket mount and drive pulley designed.

Sure. I'm going to make the first one and find out a final cost, then see whether it makes more sense to build my own entire scooter or build off the razors. Then I want to either put it on kicktarter to see how many I can sell, or talk to boosted boards about it since they are right next to me.

Cool idea man. I've been drooling over those boosted boards since i came across them. IIRC the motors and batteries only add something like 4lbs to the board, which is rad. 20mph uphill!

I love longboarding, so naturally that makes me drool.

No progress yet. School ended two Fridays ago, work started the Monday after. Turbo will probably get the initial bulk of my concentration, then I will work on this for a bit. I think this will be a much easier project than the turbo.
