Default Isle of Man TT - Extreme motorcycle racing

HDTH (channel 76 on Directv) is showing HD coverage of the Isle of Man race. If you have not heard of the Isle of Man TT, and you want to see the road racers with the largest ***** on the planet, check it out. The skill of the guys that go around the course fast is unbelievable.

I set it to DVR last week and watched the practice rounds. 130mph avg. speed is insane on those tiny public roads, not to mention how often they get air over all the little crests.

I love this race, still a bit surprised that it's managed to live on so long given the mortality rate of it. ***** of dark matter are needed for this.

It's the Isle of Mann, a small little island with nothing but some great roads with no speed limit. I need to go there on holiday sometime!

If your into sportsbikes then you really have to attend this event soon before it's outlawed.

There are speed limits, but only through the villages, the course during the race week is 1 way and anything goes.
You'll be busy dicing with a R1 and some bloke in a GT3 i'll jump up the inside of the corner.

Every **** and his uncle keeps going on about nurburgring, fact is though the IOM, North West 200 and Ulster GP (Nothern Ireland) are really where it's at.

Takes some getting your head around tearing past houses flat out, but it's a experience.

Rumour has it Rossi has a unhealthy obsession with the IOM as well.
Apparently he's not contractually allowed to race there on "parade" laps, but he does recon he's gonna have a bash once he's retired from MotoGP.

I'd fooooookin walk from Greece to get there to see that.

Seriously though if you like bikes, beer, cold dark wet weather and strippers then it's got to be worth a trip.

Cheers
Mark

Nurburgring isn't a half bad track, but you can thank a stupid videogame for all the kids thinking its the greatest thing ever..

I have seen some of that Irish motorcycle road racing and those guys are nuts too. Same deal as IOM, hauling *** down windy, bumpy country roads, wheel to wheel, surrounded by curbs, rock walls, houses, and spectators. Plowing over a dumbass spectator standing in the middle of the road in a WRC car is one thing. Hitting one on a bike is something else.

I'll admit my jewels are not large enough to go flat-out (100% skill level) in those conditions on a bike, hence my respect for those guys. I would probably skip the Macau race too given the chance for the same reasons. Based on my crash experience, having a large runoff area is a good thing

I have the DVD for one of the previous IOM TT races. The guy that was killed a few years ago, the one that was 'the fast guy' (I forget his name) narrates an on-board video lap of the entire track. He knew every single turn, bump, crevice, and otherwise detailed features for the ENTIRE circuit. Amazing. He also called out things like 'ok this spot right here you have to be careful, because it is well shaded by those trees, and the rain and dew does not dry off the track as fast there so it can get a bit slick, and I have to let off the throttle a bit'. On and on like that continuously for all 38 miles of the course and 18 minutes of time (one lap). Wow...

Racing cancelled for the next two days due to rain. They are showing qualifying right now.

no joke those guys have some serious *****, those cameras that show the suspension action really shows how rough the roads are. gives me visions of tankslappers into a curb and then flying into a crowd sitting on a wall.

Now they are showing the sidecar class practice. The 'passengers' are also nuts too, not to mention they have to be athletic as hell to move around on the 'bike' like they do and not fall off. Looks like fun though.
