Good news guys......

I dropped my Fuji Finepix A340 to day and broke it....

The lense, zoom was extended and when it hit it kiltered the lense, now it will not extend or retract.

So I am in the market for another small digital camera

I want something simple to use. Also would perfer if it used AA or AAA batteries

Ideas or suggestions????

You can have my older Canon Powershot SD700 IS if you want.

2GB SD card, 6MP, rechargeable lithium ion batt.... IMAGE STABILIZATION.

It's been dropped a few times, got some scratches on the outside but works fine. The GF's camera is way nicer, so I have just been using that for taking pics now.

takes close up pics pretty well...

Canon Powershot. Small, easy to use, very good reviews, and fairly cheap, what more could you want.

My GF and I bought one about 1.5 years ago, pretty much never used it, and we'd probably be open to selling it, interested? Could save you a few bucks.

BogusSVO 06-08-2012 04:17 PM

Curly.. Thanks for the offer.... Aarron has a better deal tho.

Aaron.... whens the next time you will be this way?
I may go to narrave tommorrow/sat to the fishing pier.

skou 06-08-2012 04:18 PM

Canon PowerShot A3300 IS. It's the least expensive current model with image stabilization and you can focus down to 1.8 inches away from a subject.

EDIT: Nevermind. Posted this just after Post #4

Not sure... I can't think of any reason of needing to go this weekend, but GF might have some stuff she wants to do that way.

I live close to the Publix in Navarre... if you're in the area I'd be more than happy to meet up or if you wanted to stop by and get it. You can see the sad, dismantled Miata lol.

Aaron, show him how to use the camera before he leaves your sight. For the love of all that is right and good.

aaronc7 06-08-2012 04:40 PM

hahahah

ok I'll have a tutorial ready

miatauser884 06-08-2012 04:42 PM

Thank god Bogus is getting image stabilization.

Doppelgänger 06-08-2012 07:15 PM

Another vote for canon. I'd probably go for the SX20 or whatever they're up to now with the big body/big zoom PnS cameras.

JasonC SBB 06-08-2012 07:45 PM

Learn to turn on MACRO MODE, crank up ISO to 400, and set RESOLUTION to 1.5 MPixel.

elesjuan 06-08-2012 08:18 PM

Yes yes yes yes yes!!!

aaronc7 06-08-2012 08:20 PM

Check out the panasonic cameras as well.

They use Leica lenses (and actually, the Leica cameras are re-branded panasonics).

I've had a couple of the panasonics and they have been great. I have an Olympus waterproof / rugged-ized camera that is expensive as hell, but just doesn't work as well as the panasonic.

I have a photobucket account....

If you just have to look at a ton of random car part pics... here you go...

http://s261.photobucket.com/albums/ii49/BogusSVO/

Brain... I tried to up load new pics, and it would not accept them, but I tried with a couple from the old camera and it did...

The new cannon was taking them huge... 2112 pix wide..
I resized them all to 1600 x 1200

Took a bit for me to figure that out... then could only do them one at a time... no batch resize from what I found....

Getting a bit better tho... well I think so....

Holy ----, SVO is taking good pictures?!?

Win! I look forward to future posts Bogus!

curly 06-12-2012 01:19 PM

There should be a setting within the camera to lower the resolution at which it saves them. It'll give you more room on your memory card as a bonus.

They're looking good though. Car parts are hard, especially in a machine shop. Heads will have a bunch of little dark cavities that require a flash, but if you've done your job the gasket surface will reflect it all and return something like the #2 picture above.

aaronc7 06-12-2012 01:23 PM

looks good dale! I was about to recommend the 1600x1200 setting. Looks like you got it all figured out though.

triple88a 06-12-2012 01:29 PM

+1 on the 1600x1200
