Got my new bike today.
Traded one of my 99 Miatas straight across for an 09 Triumph Daytona 675. The bike has 1,342 miles on it. It's been set up for the track. Mods include STM slipper clutch Jardine RT-1 CF exhaust GPR adjustable stabilizer Woodcraft rearsets Set up for GP shifting (one up, five down) new Pirelli Diablo Supercorsas (they have one trackday) Heading down to Star City tomorrow to look at helmets. I know they aren't cheap, but they are having customer appreciation days this weekend and supposedly the lowest prices of the year on helmets. I'll pay a bit more to be able to try on. If they are still way out of line, I'll try on and then order. Need to get measured up this week for a set of leathers and get some boots and gloves ordered. Attachment 197634 |
Nice ride. Hope this is not your first bike.

Nice scoot. The 675 will be my next bike. I really want it in the pearl white with blue. Oh and an Ixill Exhaust. Look it up on Youtube.
|
Awesome bike man.
Don't ride it until you get that helmet!! |

I am so fucking jealous. That thing is SEX.
Wanna trade for an 07 ninja 500r?:D |
Very nice bike.
I don't ride without all my gear. Full gear all the time. |
Beautiful bike. My boss rides an old GSXR 600 to work just about everyday, makes me want another motorcycle.

everyones first bike should be a sv650 |
One of my favorite sportbikes! Although for street duty id prefer the street triple naked version.
|
VERY nice bike John!
The character of the triples is something the big four can't engineer in regardless of how fast those bikes are. It sounds like you plan on tracking the bike, and this is the most track worthy of the Trumpets. The big Daytona is a gentlemen's street litrebike, and the

Definitely invest in good leathers. My brother had a nice 70+ mph off in turn 2 at TWS the weekend before last, and he walked away thanks to Alpinestar track suit, gloves and boots (he's a brand whore). He slid 20yds, and luckily his helmet never touched down, or he'd be paying the $400 to replace it. The leathers held up very well, and are re-useable. Nice helmets are worth what you pay for them. They're almost all at the same level safety-wise, but the expensive ones will blow you away on a comfort level, which can definitely make a difference in how safe YOU are. Riding 150+ miles daily there are definitely times I wish I still had an Arai. The weight, noise, and perfect fit of the right helmet can cut down on fatigue, and keep you more alert, as well as still having fun well down the road. Again, slick bike. Enjoy. |
I never heard of that "GP" style shifting, 1 up 5 down. That seems crazy to me!
Beautiful bike, I'm jealous. Good luck with it! Oh, +1 on Arai. |

Very nice! Good idea to try everything on. Get a helmet that fits correctly. A poor fitting helmet is almost as bad as no helmet.
|
Welp, ended up with a pretty stellar deal on a helmet on ebay. New Shark RSI Fusion Tec Black. They are $359 all day long, even on STG, but this company happened to have a new demo unit (still has the visor sticker on it) in stock in my size for $215 shipped. I was able to try on a medium in this same helmet Sunday. It was just a smidge big, so felt pretty good buying this one sight unseen in a small.
I did pick up a Shift textile armored jacket at Star City Sunday for 50% off. Now I just need to get my wife to measure me up for the leathers. Hoping to make a late June trackday IF the rack suit that Spartan has in stock fits me. The measurements will tell all but it looks promising. I'm bummed because they just submitted their bi-monthly order the end of April, so the next won't be until the end of June for the next custom fit order run. |

When you're hauling ass, it's difficult to focus on a bunch of things at once, and a downward stomping motion is more natural than hooking your foot underneath and tugging up. That and when you pull up, you have a tendency to jerk/pull up on the handle bars which can cause inadvertent power wheelies. It's definitely a personal preference thing, but I found I could lap MUCH quicker and devote far less mental power to my shifting GP style. And sweet bike, but gold ones are faster ;) |
Very nice bike.. I used to have a Triumph Daytona 955i, very fun.
|
Great bike! I still like my 82 Yamaha Maxim 400, but I'll be getting something larger in a few years.

Actually, the yellow is really sharp. Hope to see you up here in a couple of months at MAM for a trackday. Ordered leathers tonight. Lucked out. Dave had already turned in the bi-monthly order but is still sneaking mine in on this run so I should have custom fit leathers in about four weeks! Geez, my wife had to pull 29 different measurements for them. From what I have read it's a great quality set of customs for $650. |
