Default Another one down

"Swedish carmaker Saab is to be shut down by General Motors after the collapse of a last-ditch attempt to sell it to Dutch sports car manufacturer Spyker.

GM announced today that with "regret" it was starting an orderly wind-down of 62-year-old Saab's operations. The marque, which grew out of an aircraft manufacturer shortly after the war, employs 3,400 people in Sweden and sold 93,000 cars in 2008, but has struggled to turn a profit."

GM stuck their nose in too many other mfgs. and because of GM's extreme fuckups, all these other companies are being flushed. Way to go GM!

Ford FTW

Oh well, GM has very little to offer. I'd rock the **** out of a G8 or a CTS-V. Every other company they gobbled up will probably be getting the boot in the future.

Saab was doing fine until GM started in with them. Shame.

I don't know if I would say fine. You don't see a lot of any year model Saab on the road these days. Hippie car. Though I did kind of dig the last model 93. Of course also the Draken.

I absolutely love saabs. When I get out of college I am buying an oldskool 900 turbo. I think it's a shame that they will be gone and out of business but, thats life and it sucks.

This is my dream 900 turbo

Oh, can't forget the pimp viggen.

Right, but at least they were still treading water.

Treading water franticly wearing 10lb ankle weights, but yeah, they were somehow keeping their heads above the water. But I don't disagree that GM is messing **** up.

Saab shoulda never got in with GM. Personally I think Saab's are ugly and 2 weeks ago I pulled a Saab tranny from a 900 turbo. WHAT A BITCH THAT WAS. Never saw a car with the flywheel and clutch in the front. Made it real easy to take apart, NOT.
My friend has a Saab 93, like a 2006? It has some sort of power programmer and I'll tell you this...IT RIPS **** UP, but I still hate it. It has the "I feel fast cause I have the torque of a 15 second Mustang 5.slow". It fits the category of a SRT-4...turbo car, front wheel drive with 4 doors. Therefore, bury it in the scrap pile, cause it's not my bag, baby.

At least Saab lives on in aerospace and Scania.
