Not sure about power claim...but I'd sure as hell go pick it up...even if it meant a few extra bachelorette parties this weekend.

Some of the parts could be useful...and you could probably get that much back shipping stuff to djcommie.

You may even find out you like it. My grandpa had one and they're supposed to be rockin' little cars.

Yeah, don't harvest the motor on this one, drive it as is. It's a little squealer.

There aren't many of these that have not rusted out.

There's a local AWD one that's dirt cheap but I can't have another project right now. I could drive that ****** to work daily of course. Mine would be sooooo clean too. It would definitely have 6ULs too.

Hell yes.

For comparison, here's a GTX (awd) one near me for $2150: 1988-89 Mazda 323 GTX Turbo All wheel Drive

Seriously, if you haven't bought this thing already I have no respect for you.

I say this because I know it would mean explaining to your wife another $1000 project. But those cars are worth it...and I'm telling you now you don't want to end up like me with the wife nagging you to death and keeping your ***** in a jar.

You WANT to be able to just go out and pick up deals like this.

I wish life would be that simple but it's not. If I spent another $1000 on a project she will kill me! I'm finishing up real estate school now and holidays are around the corner. I need to save as much money as I can since I need like almost $1000 to take my real state test and become one. So hopefully by the summer I'll be making lots of mula.

Yeah...I understand...I don't call it being whipped...I call it being responsible. I just let go of a T25 upgrade to make sure we'd have enough to cover spring tuition and the holidays as well.

Props to ya. I know it would be really hard for me not to run over there with a grand in my hand if that were local.

I do love how we get excited about $1000-$3000 cars and I am in that boat. The E30's I am looking at are in the $2500-$3500 range and they are in awesome shape. It's hard to look at the new M3 without thinking, "I could buy 20 E30's for that price". It's an awesome car, but I love getting excited about these cheaper cars. Plus, you aren't as scared to work on the damn things.

I've told my wife over and over that even after I graduate I'll never buy myself a new car.

I'll take her to whatever dealership she wants to go to...but I have too much fun (and get too much value) out of fixing up used old beaters with a spark of simple sports car in them.

I've never paid more than $2000 for a car, and the Miata is actually the most "valuable" one I've had. I have had more valuable bikes...but I bought a $2000 one first and kept fixing, selling and stepping up.

Not to mention keeping a manufactured car on the road is in reality more environmentally responsible than going out and buying the newest gas-sipper off the lot.
