Default Older amusingness from Tom...

I'd forgotten about this thread until Tom bumped it today: http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthread...=260159&page=2

Bwahahaha, abso-*******-lutely. He is a special case which doesn't have a cure yet ...

Some of his latest gems which come to mind:

He should win a darwin award for plumbing the vacuum line of the Eaton bypass actuator post blower (unlike pretty much every Magnuson kit and even the archaic JRSC had it preblower) and bypasses started malfunctioning left and right.

Another darwin award gem of his related to his kit is the plumbing of the stock FPR vacuum line pre-blower on NA8 cars (IIRC he still tells his customers to install it that way, so the FPR never get higher than ambient pressure ...). One day some client of his will decide to spin his eaton to 20 psi and the poor guy will wonder why his injectors are not moving much fuel ...
This is somewhat related to the thread you linked above - guess why that guy doesn't get linear fuel pressure increase when in boost ...

Bwahahaha. Go read the thread - it is getting hilarious. In an attempt to move the attention away from PC Pro and his total lack of knowledge of how FPR work and what is their function, he started picking on some old writings of mine.

Looks like the guy still can't process out that on the graphs the Dynojets output estimated crank torque with no drivetrain loss corrections and not the wheel torque numbers. Maybe someone needs to teach him that the role of the gearbox in a car is to multiply the engine torque to the wheels ...

Who knows, he might figure it out some day if he puts his car on a Dynapack or some other good dyno and sees over 600 lbs/ft torque readings. Wait, no - then he will think that Dynapack is broken ...

Tom is far from being an idiot. He's just playing with you. It's his MO. Read back on other posts and you'll see that he changes the subject, then comes back, then changes it again. I think mostly he does it to give time for some of his herd to jump in and demand that the bad men stop picking on their savior.

<edit> see what he just added? something of 0 substance...

The real truth about arguing with Tom exposed!

You should've seen the threads from yo-yo forums (which he participated) - someone posted links to those in some Miata forum some years ago. Donkey in the middle of the bridge kindof readings ...

That was time when Tom was not a vendor yet, but a BRP lemming #1 - and according to his words back then his BRP MP62 hotside was the hot **** and our BRP Coldsides were nothing in comparison Then one day later his Coldside copied from the original BRP Coldside became the hot **** and BRP the enemy #1

Ok, that was uncalled for. I can understand my "Would you buy a Chinese Wife..." threads getting killed, but this was something else.

For those who missed the joke, in the midst of Tom ridiculing JMan about how dynos work, I posted the following, which I thought was really damn funny (and less insulting than what Tom was doing):

Joe: did they point out exactly which rules you broke, since they've asked you to "read the rules and post responsibly"? If they feel that they're inappropriate, you'd think they'd do you the favour of pointing out exactly why, so you can refrain from doing so again.

Cheers!

Jeff

So I sent the following response to Jack yesterday:
Unfortunately, the delete-key was wielded at me twice in one day (well, three times, technically) and I fear that the two topics at hand are being confused.

The poll thread entitled “Would you buy a Chinese Wife…” (and its re-post) were obviously jokes which I expected to be deleted. They were posted in response to a comment made by a user in one of the several ongoing ‘Chinese turbo/crank/gears” threads that “Jeeze -- next thing you'll know we'll have a ‘buy a Chinese wife’ thread.” I’m not mad about those- they were off topic and had no value other than to make a few people chuckle. .

However, I am quite upset about the deletion of my post (which was originally post # 51) in the following thread: http://forum.miata.net/vb/showthrea...59&page=2&pp=25

I take issue with Tom@FFS, and I am tired of seeing him use his sponsor status as a soapbox for sowing misinformation to the users. Therefore, I sometimes point out flaws in his reasoning, usually in a humorous context.

In that particular thread, Tom followed his usual tactic of drawing attention away from the matter at hand by launching a personal attack on a user, J_Man, in this case. I then posted a message which linked to this address: http://oldfartracing.i8.com/chassis_dyno_facts.html which leads the user to an image which reads “Arguing with Tom is like running in the Special Olympics- even if you win, you’re still retarded.” The purpose being to humorously illustrate to J_Man the futility of arguing with Tom, who has time and time again proven himself incapable of using facts and truth to support his positions.

I have re-read the “Rules in a Nutshell” and “Posting Guidelines” sections and I cannot see which of these I am in violation of. This post was relatively on-topic, it was not a flame or personal attack, it did not use vulgar or inappropriate language, etc. Quite the contrary in fact- note item #3 in the “nutshell” rules:
… If you take issue with a Member's position, by all means speak your mind. If you have a problem with a Member's religion, creed, national origin, sex, politics, associations or personal hygiene, take it to e-mail.
I do take issue with a Member’s position, and I was speaking my mind. I’d like to know how this violates any rule.
And this morning, I received the following from Gary:
You've stepped across the line a number of times in the past few days. I'm not going to tolerate your personal attacks, inappropriate posts, and snide remarks.

If it happens again, we'll ask you to take a vacation from the forum.
I think I'm going to take that vacation just the same.
