Harry Potter
Who has seen the latest movie or read the books i have found all to be quite good anyone else?
Me and the wife watched the movie. It was pretty good. She's reading the book as I type this post
no one in the world reads harry potter, the author got rich by winning the euro lotto and it's all a scam.
My wifes professor at Ringling School of art and design illustrated a few of those books. (And from what I heard got screwed out of alot of money)
i refuse to read the trashy and have seen the movie before the current one because my GF made me go see it.
If you want to read some good fiction pick up a books from the Redwall Series or go read the Lord of the ring (actually its just one big book and not a trilogy) as the movie really f-ed up the storyline |
I've been listening to the HP audio book during my hour + commute - it's ok. It keeps my mind from dwelling on the traffic too much.
Watched the movie and read the last book. I liked the books and I tend to read a lot...lol.
The deathly hallows had the best ending for a series i have read for a long time i was impressed
I'd have to agree. It left a lot to the imagination but still let us know how everything turned out later down the road. :)
I been reading the books since the 4 book, need to back and read the first 3 books. I like the new book and how it ended. I was told somewhere online it has a list of what everyone is doing as for work an all.
I yet to see the new movie, broke... |
no list but alot is told.

I really liked redwall and piers anthony Xanth novels. They were all good fiction novels.
I'm pretty sure Redwall was the mice and all sorts of stuff. Read a couple back in middle school, they were pretty awesome, but I prefer sci-fi these days. The Dune series pretty much takes the cake. Saw the new movie, never read the books, missed most of the other movies. Was an entertaining film that kept me attentive and a bit on the edge of my seat and was about as entertaining as the trip to the theater in which a coworker and I fried the brakes in a rental Dodge Avenger (we e-braked to stop as well as to "assist" in turns for a good 8 miles or so). Anyways, when does the actor who plays Hermione turn 18?

They certainly held more true to the book than most films do. |

The movie did not F up the storyline, it merely had to leave a lot of things out, otherwise each of the films would've been twice as long.
They certainly held more true to the book than most films do. Farmeir (sp) was a puss in the movies, while in the book he was a central and main character especially in the return of the king section. Also the people of Rohan did not run away like cowards into helms keep they strategically and actively went after the hordes and were slowly pushed back into the keep. BIG differences. as to Redwall books yes that is were the characters were animals. Great Stuff. |
I read the first four books back in middle school. Liked em. I liked Redwall, BUT
Enders Game FTW! PS. Snape kills Dumbledore |
dude maybe people haven't read the half blood prince yet don't spoil it for them geez

Enders Game FTW! Homecoming Saga? was a good series to... sci/fi ftw. |
OoTP wasn't bad on-screen, but unfortunately since it's such long book, it was hard to get all the plots. The final fight seen though, was pretty good, with everybody wizarding all over the place.
3 days or a little less on the deathly hollows.... definately good story, and nicely summed up... some of the side stories were impressive...... Dave, |

The dragonLance series is one of my all time favorite.....I really loved the twins Trilogy........alot of people dont try it cause its DND based....but im telling it is by far the most in depth world out there...with some really great charecters and really awsome story arcs.........if you can make it through the first 3 books of the series you open up endless other books to go to.
Raistlin FTW..... |
I think the movies get progressively worse. If you watch the last one you will notice they really use camera angles to attempt to make harry and ron look shorter. Unfortunately, you can tell they are dwarfing all the other kids in the school. It almost looks like they got held back several years in magic school. How sad.
i just finished the last book last night...

If you want an egrossing universe try Star Wars Nough said

The best current fantasy series is: (IMHO) Steven Erickson's Malazan book(s) of the fallen. (10 book series, book 7 released this year.) Good military based fantasy, with a pretty unique magic system. Really really good. Best SCIFI: David Weber's Honor Harrington series, also from a great military perspective. Potter is ok at best, they are written for a child to read, both series above are totally the other way around. |
Starwars is good sometimes...I really liked the bounty hunter series. Some of the Warhammer 40k books are good too....and a few of the Alien books are entertaining......A series that suprised me in being good was the "Doom" series, but then again If a book is written about anything I like I tend to give it a good chance!......Still, from my experiance, nothing compares to dragonlance.....
oh oh ...forgot to add... starship troopers is a really awsome book too..great book for the time it was written.......
mmhkay hell there are about 30 books past a new hope easy, and another 30 or more from before a new hope= starwars is huge.
hell ya...the starwars section in most book stores are huge!....Im just whondering if there are more Startrek or more Starwars books...hmmmmmmm
