I had a buddy with a DSM (first turbo car we have all ever been around) and one day he started to complain that his car felt super slow, but he could still hear the whistle of the turbo. We decided to test this, and we found out that his 1G would go 0-60 in a staggering 22 seconds, and he had to downshift TWICE to get over the bridge into town.
So after all this we removed the downpipe (a week later) only to find the turbine wheel sitting in the O2 housing. So not only was his motor running N/A, but also through the equivalent of a 1/2 inch exhaust, slightly cutting back power. Put a new turbo in, and he continued to drive it...into a telephone pole...backwards. |
