How about another chapter in "My dumbest wrenching mistake".

I've spent the last couple weeks preparing the '94 for the upcoming autocross season.
Updates included;
- new coilovers
- new RB hollow bar and adjustable end links
- removed the AC
- replaced all the vacuum lines which involved removing the blower (MOAB),
- new brake pads, rotors and brake fluid flush
- installed JR header and RB exhaust (bought used from forum members)
- installed underbody bracing

When I was done I jacked up the rear, put the jack stands away and lowered the rear to the ground. I then jacked up the front, was putting the jackstands away as I watched the car slowly slip of the jack and fall to the ground.

Last thing I had done was the brakes and the car was in neutral with no e-brake set and it just slid off the jack. Damage could have been worse, but it punctured the radiator and shattered one of the fan housings.

That sucks man, I have a stock '93 radiator if you'd like it cheap. Not sure if its a direct bolt on for the '94 though. If not, its a good time to upgrade, not that you needed MORE upgrades though...

If you are interested, I have an automatic (all metal, higher colling capacity) radiator from a 96 and spare fans cheap.

Thanks for the offer on radiators guy, but I already have one on order. Since it is primarily an autocross car I stayed with OEM for weight. If it was a track car or DD I would have gone with a larger capacity radiator.

As far as pics, I already tossed the radiator and fan so all I have is a pic of the engine bay and I don't want to hear about how that funny lookin turbo is mounted on the wrong side

I have never liked jack stands. I always use concrete blocks and short lengths of wood (to pad and shim up evenly, since I park in the grass).

For the radiator, I would recommend RadiatorBarn. All metal radiator for $140. I've had mine a few weeks so far and haven't noticed any problems. Install was 95% OEM, all I had to do was enlarge 2 holes by about 1/16'', which took about 30 seconds.

I would trust a jack stand over a concrete block anytime. It didn't fall off the jackstand, it fell off the jack as I was removing the jackstands.

Something about the car being on 1 1/2' tall stands with less than 12'' bases, while I'm pulling with 100+ lbs of force on a 1/2 wrench thats trying to break loose an exhaust bolt just doesn't make me feel safe. Though a concrete block does have a chance of crumbling, at least I don't feel they are so wobbly and likely to turn over. Plus I don't have a mirror smooth garage floor, only dirt and gravel.

jeez guys. just go to your local mechanic shop and make friends with them. bring cookies if needed. its not that hard! then in some weeks youll have unlimited access to lifts and toolz!

When I build my house, one of the first things my garage gets is a lift. They don't cost THAT much, I don't see why more people don't have them in their home garages/shops. I would work on my car 200% more than I do now.

The cost of the garage to put the lift in would be way more, But it would be awesome 2

Gold plated? I've seen decent lifts go for $2500. If you do the install yourself, costs shouldn't get over 3 or $4k. For what you get, thats not bad. Even 10k would be worth it in my opinion. I could get 10k use out of one in less than a year.
