Help-I need a 1.8 Aluminum Diff Housing Only
im posting this shameless cry for help in the BS section because thats what it is, BS
as some of you know i have a 96 parts car i bought for the sole purpose of using the motor and tranny and sell of what i can to recoup some money. The car was hit in the front, total loss, motor had some damage to the crank pully but nothing major, i just reused my old motors crank pully and all is good. So i decide to sell the drive shaft axles and open diff all together to a fellow member. last weekend i decide to remove everything from underneather the car including the diff and etc. and i see that the diff carrier is broken on one of the arms. Needles to say i was pissed, i didnt even bother to look at the diff when buying the car cause i knew it was an open diff. so, if anyone semi-close to NC has one, they should all be the same from 94-05, please let me know...i will come pick it up and pay cash i need everyones help since this seems impossible to find just so everyone knows, i have offered to return the money or to source another carrier out of my pocket and im waiting for a reply. either way, i will still need the carrier sorry for long thread mods, please do not move to WTB yet :bowdown: |
so you need a diff case with good arms, or the diff/pumpkin? I have a pumpkin with a 4.30 ring if you want it.

pumpkin = iron
carrier = aluminum |
aluminum thing, so carrier
the big-ass thing that hangs off of the subframe and holds the rear in place its broken in the same place where scotts broke looking at his incident pics partsgroup says those are designed to break if you have an accident we should get someone to make aftermarket ones |

what year RX-7 will work, is it 84-87 or something like that? |
Dan, don’t sweat it , My 6” Diff is holding up good (so far). I am sure we can find a housing before I grenade my present Diff. I can’t imagine it being difficult to source another one.
|
hey, i was waiting anxiously on a PM from you...
ues everyone, Milton is the 'fellow member' that bought the diff swap |

anyone? please help
i got an offer today, kinda high and it was broken as well, what are people thinking? |
how much are you willing to pay for one?
|
Has anyone checked on the price of a new one? These things are going to get scarce with the way the rear bumper on the NB transmits force to the frame. Just a gentle tap cracks off an ear.

<edit> ha ha, Dan beat me to it. Seriously, let me know and I might could have something. Maybe. I dunno. The part # I supplied cross references to all miatas from 95-05. 94 shows MA02-27-600 (no A at the end) at the same price. I don't know what the difference is. |
M055-27-600B is from the 86-88 rx7 non turbo
same price, looks the same in the pics, but I can't gaurantee |

interesting on the 94's...
the diff came out of a 96, so i guess no concern there i really wonder what it would take to make welded carriers... cast is not efficient enought unless you do a lot, CNC would cost out the ass |
Do you have the broken housing? If anyone can take measurements we can sketch ideas

same price, looks the same in the pics, but I can't gaurantee i have both. i compared the two, they are identical. my lsd came out of a short nose rx7 (86-87). the only reason you cant leave it in the pumpkin is because there aren't any PPF bracketry. Need miata specific bushing and it's a direct swap. I'm lucky i have a spare because i need one myself :) |
