I love build thread on random cars that no one cares about.

I searched Toyota Echo and found this:

Lol, look at how fucking ugly that is.

We modified a guys echo a few years back for similar reasons. We used a set of decent 15X7 wheels with 205 tires. A set of lowering springs off an older corolla and cut half of the first coil off to make the car fit right in the front. They were progressive springs and the car felt a whole lot better. Then we fit a set of cloth Acura TL seats out of a 90's TL he got at the junk yard and put a head unit in it. He found some car I don't know what kind with bigger sway bars and we modified his stock links to make them work. It felt a whole lot better and I feel if we used some dynamat or similar it would have been pretty nice for a daily.

Tanabe now makes a set of springs for it that are direct fit. Here is the link they are $165.

That's what I am looking for. Hopefully they have gray available. What years???

Any year, just depends how much you wanna spend and what condition they're in. Saab made the 9000 from the early to mid 80's to '97 or '99, I forget. I don't know any differences between the years, I imagine since they were such a big hit, they didn't change the mounting of the seats much. I know they didn't change interior or exterior hardly at all.

If you're staying with 14" wheels, have you tried Miata daises? Painted black they're a nice light wheel. No idea about bolt pattern or offsets though.

This will be nice since I can get it at lowes. I won't have to buy in bulk.

Do you recall if the seat mounts had to be modified or bolted right in? I'd probably take a slightly less comfortable seat if it bolted right in. Hell, anything is going to be better than the stock seats.

I think I would get the springs if I could be sure it wasn't going to make the ride too stiff. It would definitely help the body roll issue. I think they make an aftermarket sway for the echo, or just try to use an xB rear sway. How much do you expect a rear sway to affect ride comfort? Remember, this isn't an autox car, it is slow as molasses, so high speed cornering isn't a goal at the expense of comfort.

I believe I read a 4x100 wheel. I found offsets but I can't remember what they were. I plan on staying 14" Tires really are ridiculously cheap. I like the black daisies idea. What is the miata offset?

I'm stopping in Monday at the shop to get an estimate on the parts. I priced a lot of stuff out at rockauto. Labor will be the killer. Now I need to decide if I want to do some of the work myself, of just say f' it. Drop the car off and pick it up finished. With my ABR exam the last week in May, I don't have a free weekend between now and then. It just sucks, because brakes are so easy to do myself. I guess I can just be happy with buying the parts myself, to help offset labor.

Good, I think 35mm to 45mm fits fine on echo

Ok, 14" wheels stay. They are steelies with hub caps.

Lightweight wheels will improve ride quality.

^^^ And fuel economy...probably not enough to make up for the purchase cost of another set of wheels but....

Cut the springs

Spray 10 cans of rubberized undercoat all over the underside

Remove your seat rails and bolt the stock seat to the floor

Add a push bar
