I'm looking for cars for my gf. I want her to get something interesting and fun to drive, but it also has to be reliable since I'm not always around to fix it.

I know VW's are stereotyped for being unreliable. Was it also true for the MKI's?

 

$3500 is way too much for that car. The earlier vw's are much better than the 4th gen cars. mk3 cars are probably the most reliable of the bunch. I know of a $2800 vr6 in Dallas thats incredible for the price, and just scored new timing chains. Its worth looking at.

She really likes an MX-3 in Chicago.
