home speaker question

I have 4 of these mounted in my ceiling. R-1800-C --- In-ceiling loudspeaker, Klipsch Reference Series

ceiling is angled up at like 45 degrees, speakers are halfway up. On the backside of them they are open to the attic and have blown in insulation around them. Dosen't seem like the best situation to me.

would I be better off with these mounted behind them?ME-800-C --- Fire-rated enclosure

I'm curious if they would help protect from the extreme temps in the attic and if they would help acousticly? I'm also concerned if the drywall they are mounted to would have a problem if I used the enclosure.

Would it be better? Without a doubt. Better projection, probably better frequency response, certainly better for the life of the speaker - the heat will kill surrounds.

The best choice? Probably not. You're paying for the Klipsch name on a steel can. Build a box out of MDF or OSB (5" thick minimum), and fill it with speaker insulation. Fasten around each speaker. Not fire rated, but that shouldn't be a concern - if you're worried about the speakers burning, the roof is already gone.

Speakers last ok stuffed into trunks of cars, I doubt that heat will be an issue. I think the need to have an enclosure will depend entirely on the speaker in question.
