Default way cool new toy

So totally not related to Miata's but.... I have since childhood had a fascination with flashlights and now at 43 I still have the affliction. I've always wanted a HID light but they're so darn expensive. Saw this on ebay and went for it! This bugger is BRIGHT!! holy crap, never seen anything like it! Turns night into day for sure. Extremely well made even though it's a china gig.

I'll tell you what, the ****** really is that bright. It's crazy. I've got a bunch of tac lights, lightbox, etc and this thing is nuts.

I like the autoLED thing, not helping my addiction though...

If you're into flashlights I assume you are on CPF? Have you done any of the popular Mag hotwire mods and if so, how does that new HID compare? I'm wondering if it will be brighter than my Mag85. And what's the runtime?

I am on that board although not real often. I know the mag mods but I never did one myself so I can't compare. The runtime is supposed to be 110 minutes advertised, I'll do a test and see how long it really lasts. The battery pack is fairly large though.

I really want to get one of those giant spot lamps from AutoZone, you know, the ones that run off a 12v motocycle battery and are like 15million candle power.....and put a 35w HID bulb/ballast in it since the spot lights use standard H4 bulbs.

You can also go to your friendly VW parts counter guy and ask for a Toureg Maplight, it's the same basic thing.

Working like a champ. Holds a charge well also. It is now my primary go-to light for "outdoor issues". The last one was a crazy *** raccoon going at it with my outside cat. ******' coon was huge but kitty wasn't backing down. By the time I got outside with the light and shotgun he was heading for the woods, didn't have time to get a shot off. Shoulda just sprayed the woods with the machine gun just in case.

Still use the litebox for extended period searches or working outside as it burns forever (hours) on a charge but for long throw blind your *** brightness it is the ****.

Where in VA do you live? I want to come visit and just decide that it is perfectly acceptable to spray the woods with a machine gun. That sounds ******* bad ***.

Out in the sticks, SE Virginia. Nothing more liberating than full auto. Makes you giggle. I have to use the suppressor now though cause last time I went blasting I scared the **** out of one of my neighbors. We're a few hundred yards away but she though she was in a war zone apparently.
