Will these cracks in fiberglass resurface if repaired?
Is this worth buying? If so, how much would you pay? New, they are $395.

$100, not a cent more than $150.

Faeflora 05-26-2012 11:19 PM

$20.

blaen99 05-26-2012 11:21 PM

$50 at most. To get that bumper right, you are looking at a ridiculous amount of work.

It's not something an amateur would be able to get right*, although perhaps I value my time more than others.

*: Close enough, no doubt, but not right. You have some serious work involved in repairing the hole(s).

bikersam717 05-27-2012 12:55 AM

$200 w/o holes.
$50 as is.

Isn't it just a matter of scuffing, putting that mesh stuff over it, adding resin, and filling with some sort of filler?

Never done resin work before, but have watched some vids of it.

It depends on if you're a perfectionist or don't care if your car looks mediocre at best.
mesh+resin+filler and lotsa sanding/re-filling/priming to get that sucker into ok shape. Personally I absolutely despise body work, there's a reason why people that do it charge an arm and a leg for good quality work. If you value your time, you'll keep looking for a good condition one, otherwise be ready to be frustrated repairing that thing. Just my .02

Not bad at all. I've done glass work and that is all a pretty easy fix. But I would hype it up to the seller to get it cheap :giggle:

pusha 05-29-2012 02:08 PM

just give him the Rick from Pawn Stars line:

it's going to cost me xyz to fix, I'll give you 20 bucks

psreynol 05-29-2012 02:13 PM

a couple hours on sat and a couple hours on sunday and you should be able to get it looking good. the materials and tools cost money. I could see spending 70 bucks at the store for ---- you need to fix it.

in contrast to what others say, it is a new skill. if you like diy and want to try go for it. it can be a dusty job but it is not that bad, no worse than sanding anything.

I certainly hope you aren't including paint, tools, and time to paint in that $70 and a few hours over two days, unless you just rustoleum your ----.

That's a few hours a day over a week job for an okay job, plus cost of paint/time/tools, not two days if he does it right - the OP has to paint and prep it as well, unless he just rustoleum's like you.
