How badass is your assualt rifle?

By request. Simply post some pictures of your assault rifle to be judged by others. I'll start:

If I am going to buy a gun, I'll do it right with a Barrett...

I'll post some pics tonight. Just for clarification, most if not all of the rifles that will be in this thread are not really "assault rifles". Assault rifles amongst other things are defined by their select fire ability (semi or full auto). The only select fire weapons that civilians can purchase now are those that were manufactured and registered before May of 1986 when the "firearms protection act" kicked in. Those firearms are NFA items and require a background check and BATF tax stamp.

Just wanted to clarify. FYI the current going price for a used M16 is about $17K. Supply & demand.

All that I have is a boring old Olympic Arms AR in left hand. Not just a safety swap. They make a left side eject port receiver. I hate being a lefty and having cases eject in front of my face on righty rifles. Sucks, because my ability to buy a used rifle is almost nil.

Which one... I have 3. I'll post pics later.

Yup, did the conversion on my home built office desk/workbench in my apartment (first pic). Was lots of fun.

Do issue weapons count? Not my exact assigned weapon obviously:

Absolutely! Everyone should have a 240 in their bunker! :)

How about groundhogs at 1-500 yards? Hell I have even headshot two small deer at 200 yards with it. Also, mine is a flattop so I kinda had to put some sort of aiming device on there. Plus it is much easier for me to shoot better groups with a scope as opposed to irons. That being said, I do shoot a winchester model 52B at up to 100 yards with the factory peep sights, and do quite well.

mgeoffriau 12-10-2009 01:10 PM

By the way, I do have the full conversion pics and text saved somewhere on my computer, so if anyone is interested, I can post them up.

If we ever go out on a mission together, you can carry that and I'll stick with an M4. Deal? :noob:

Seriously though, those are on the heavy side and they chew through ammo. If only they'd go ahead and start giving us the piston-actuated (vs. direct gas) M4s with the slightly larger round they've been discussing..

Fuckers signed me up for the 240 when I got here in Germany so now I'm qualified and that's my current weapon, trying to get me to the SAW range too. I'd much rather have an M4 and I'd even buy my own shit if they would let me carry a .308 (7.62) piston "M4". I've shot a few piston 5.56's and while it would make quals a little trickier (pistons reduce accuracy SOMEWHAT at long distances) the easier maintenance, higher reliability, and less cleaning would make it sooo much nicer. We need to go ahead and give Bushmaster or FN a contract for ACR's or SCAR's and get getting rid of the dam m16 platform over with.

/rambling I know not a lot of that probably made sense. :giggle:
