How do I stack up as a Mnetter? lolz

No, there is no link to Mnet! :fawk:
I like to look at Mnet WTB ads to see if I can sell something i don't need of my parts car. Well this guys pissed me off a little and I was really bored today, so I figured I'd have some fun with it. I hate when someone wastes my fucking time. :vash: I decided to go gay on him and cry a fucking river, pointless maybe, make me feel better, nah, figured I'd fuck with him a little.

Hey. I'm ****** on the miata forums. You sent me a PM about the center console. Do you have any pictures of it before I buy?

On Mon, May 19, 2008 at 12:20 PM, -me
Yeah, but you have to wait till tonight till I get home, I don't have any pics on my work computer. I'll email you tonight once I get home. It needs a cleaning like any other part that sits in my room, lol, but it is in flawless condition, no scratches, cracks etc. I'll shoot you a pic and you let me know.
Cheers,
Dan

Enjoy, let me know if you need more pics.

Thanks for the pictures. Is it scuffed in the back by the lid and inside the lid?

On Tue, May 20, 2008 at 9:02 AM,-ME
I didn't notice anything, I also didn't look for anything, I can snap another pic of that area specifically tonight and send it to ya...what do ya think?

Date: Tuesday, May 20, 2008, 11:24 AM-Buyer
Yea that sounds good. I really appreciate it.

On Tuesday, May 20, 2008 9:44 PM –Me
(sent close up of area in question, which was not all that bad, I am just brutally honest)
ok, checked it a little closer, there are 3-4 scratches but they are pretty small.
The stuff you see on the over feels like some kind of abrasive, it will most likely come out with some warm water, if not alcohol or gasoline will remove it.
Let me know what you think.
Dan

WOW, that's all I can say! After running around and going out of my way to get you what you want, you turn around and not even email me back. That is a great way to make friends......NOT! I have been a member of the Miata community for many years and have had many great dealings with not a single bad one to this day, but dealing with you is by far the worst experience I have had so far. I have had a lot of people that didn't buy a part from me after talking, that is nothing new, but every one of them so far came back and said they were not interested for whatever reason. The most common reason is if they find something local and avoid shipping, after which I tend to congradulate them and thank them for looking. I don't even get a 'no thanks' from you, that is low, I was expecting more from a fellow Mnetter.

Was this really my worst dealing? Nah! :giggle:

So what do you think, how do sound as a Mnetter? Pretty gay?

Braineack 06-03-2008 06:00 PM

im lost.

Zabac 06-03-2008 06:08 PM

figred you'd be...
I am in sales, sort of, I get people asking for special things all the time, I just get really pissed off when I go out of my way to accomodate someone and then never hear from them again, sorry, I should have given some background, but I really hate when people ask for certain things, you give them what they asked for and then you never hear from them again. It is kind of like buying a girl a drink at the bar and then she walks over to her boyfriend and drinks it with him without even saying thanks.

TonyV 06-03-2008 06:45 PM

Yea I'm in sales too and I completely understand where your coming from..

Needless banter tho, he either bought one of the other 2, or just fucked off....

I always make it a point to tell someone if I end up going another route, even if they dont go out of their way for the sale...Just common courtesy, and believe it or not alot of times I end up making the deal with them in the end for some reason...Or hook up on another deal in the future...weird how things work themselves out ;)

Zabac 06-03-2008 06:53 PM

You nailed it, common courtesy, I guess those not subject to it on a dailiy basis don't really care, it makes my blood boil.
This does not bother me on simple inquiries, only those ---- people that want you to the leg work for them and then just blow off. I waited two weeks before I sent my last message, that was more than enough time for him to make up his mind.

mrtonyg 06-03-2008 07:02 PM

Dude, I think you are over reacting.

Yea, it would have been polite for him to respond, but still...you need to grow thicker skin!

JayL 06-04-2008 12:58 AM

Honestly, I probably would have done the same as he did. You told him it was flawless, then you send him pictures and he calls you out on it. You then tell him you didn't really look at it. Finally, you admit that it isn't as you originally told him it was, then proceed to tell him how it will most likely easily be removed (if it was that easy, you would have done it). Maybe I'm taking this a bit too far, but you come across like a shady used car salesman trying to pass your junk off on someone else. If you advertise it as flawless, then that's the condition the item should be in. Looks to me like you wasted his time.

TonyV 06-04-2008 02:35 AM

I dunno bout that ^^

If ur a 1/2 educated buyer, buying a used part, that is commonly broken, and is several yrs old you have to take flawless as flawless compared to whats out there...Shady nah, a lil off on the description possibly...but easily fixable (cleaned up/price reduced/reason explained)
And again, common courtesy saying "sorry dude i thought it was truly flawless" would have probably resulted in him cleaning it up, or lowering price accordingly and still possibly everyone is happy...

I prob wouldve just let it be myself, but if caught on the right day I wouldve done the same and vented...
Go thru that a few times a day/week for a few yrs, esp when it involves putting bread on the table and you'll never look at buying/selling something the same...

I hustle at work, and that gives me exp./knowledge to bargain/negotiate on almost everything I buy....BUT I'm an educated consumer, and am honest & dont waste time...
ie: if I know I just wanna test drive a car, and I'm not buying it that day...I wont walk into a dealership, go thru the formalities and waste everyones time...then drive and say let me think bout it...
I'll walk in, find the least busiest person, and say I'm NOT buying today...but wanna drive it and think about it...9/10 times I get passed on to a nobody who throws me the keys and then I take a card on my way out...

Savington 06-04-2008 03:20 AM

...Or you could have just Pmed him with a quick "Still interested in the center console?" Either you never hear from him again, or you get a "yeah, sorry, went on vacation and forgot. $40 to your paypal right now sound good?"

miatamania 06-04-2008 08:35 AM

lol...kinda like cutting someone off in traffic that just cut you off but then you get in front of them at a stoplight and nothing comes of it other than two pissed off people.

Zabac 06-04-2008 04:25 PM

Tony, I got pretty thick skin, this guy just happen to cross my mind at the wrong time, that's all. I'm not even upset about it, heat of the moment type of thing, that's why i posted the emails here for their gayness, figured I'd give a few people a laugh since those who deal with sales on a regular basis will be able to relate to this.

Jay, the piece in my opinion is flawless, it sat in my room for about a year, i saw he was looking for one, so I told him i'd send him pics, the scratches on it are tiny, can hardly be seen, but I am honest and straight up and mention them just because it's the right thing to do, I like to underpromise and overdeliver, not the other way around.
This thing sat in my room and it came out of my parts car, I noted it in good condition when I took it off. The glue would come off easily, I have been down this road before. I just didn't really care about it, otherwise i'd do it myself. No big deal!

Sav-yes that is one way to look at it, and if this was my means of making a living, I would have done it that way, it's called 'follow up', an everyday thing in sales. But this is not the case, it wasn't about the money, just trying to help the guy out, he was the one with the ad about looking for a console and then he just doesn't respond for two weeks. My rent doesn't rely on making this sale and some things are more important than money to me anyways. No biggie, he still may buy, I got skills like that, lol

miatamania-pretty much, but it made me feel better, that's why I did. I'm gay now!

From todayThanks. I was out of town visiting my GF's parents and frankly, this isn't high on my concern list. Maybe if you took clear pictures I would've continued doing business. It's hard to sell something when the buyers can't tell what it is.
I think it is obvious to see that he was not intending to ever get back at me and did feel bad for being called out, otherwise he wouldn't have responded with an excuse. I fucking love buyers, they are like women, they will lie cheat and steal but at the end of the day you still need them.
Sorry to all those to whom I am not making sense, but I know there are a few of you sales professionals out there. ABC!

Stein 06-04-2008 04:43 PM

I wonder if it is the same guy I dealt with. He wanted a bunch of pics of my console, which I sent and I never heard back from him. Was it in the WTB area on m.net?

I actually cleaned mine up, shot some pics and sent them off. Figured I needed to do it anyway to sell it. So, I'm ready for a real buyer.

Zabac 06-04-2008 04:45 PM

Yeah, WTB at Mnet. I'll pm you his name since I don't want it public.

TonyV 06-04-2008 06:07 PM

lmao..ABC..., and to do that you need BRASS BALLS GENTLEMEN...
GG/GR ftmfhdW...
Some good lines in Boiler room as well, and of course WallStreet...
No any other classics???

Anyway back to the topic, its obvious he wasn't serious and prob wasted a few other people's time as well...His response to being called out was the equivalent of
"let me talk to my wife about it first"

Zabac 06-04-2008 06:17 PM

Heared that! When I used to sell cars, I would suggest a family share plan with their cell provider, and they would usually say "well she has a cell phone" which is just what you want to hear..."well, Mr. customer, I will leave you along in my office then since you need to call her, just let me know when you are done"
It worked a few times, people turn red when put on the spot.

TonyV 06-04-2008 06:29 PM

^^^The gospel according to sales rotfl..

Zabac 06-04-2008 06:54 PM

love this scene, especially the part about respect

TonyV 06-04-2008 08:59 PM

Honestly dude thats pretty much my all time favorite...
Know it by heart...

Zabac 06-05-2008 11:41 AM

Update-my efforts were not worthless, he learned after a few more emails.

On Wed, Jun 4, 2008 at 4:43 PM, -ME
I have been in sales all my life, and deal with cusotomers on a daily basis, I don't sell parts to make a living, I was trying to help you since you were looking for this part. I just didn't expect that from you and had to let you know how I felt about it. No big deal, life goes on, I am not even upset over this, just wanted to let you know how I felt about it. If you still want the part, let me know and I'll still try to help you because I believe in doing the right thing. If not, no problem, just let me know that you are not intersted and so I can offer the piece to the next person that is looking without thinking about whether you will get back to me or not.
Regards,
Dan

I'm not interested.

ME
Well, thank you for looking.
Regards,
Dan
He finally did the right thing which makes me feel much better.

BTW-after all this commotion, I had to watch the movie last night, glad I did.
