This is on Roadrunner. I ran it on speakeasy.net because I was getting a failure on speedtest.net on the uploads (firewall, I think). The server for the test was all the way up in Atlanta.
Last Result:
Download Speed: 15436 kbps (1929.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 1851 kbps (231.4 KB/sec transfer rate)

Edit: Got it solved---

Check this out-- I am getting better ping and speed through Atlanta (~400 miles away) than Tampa (~15 miles away), and better speeds, too.

During the day I am on a laptop with a Sprint Wireless card. I'll have to see how it does. I know it isn't this good.

Good to see I'm not the only one aboard the fail wagon. I currently use Charter cable, which is the only option (fast option) around here. Other option is satellite or shitty Windstream ^ DSL. Download is right at advertised 5 mb/s but the up is craptastic. I guess its a step up from the day of 14.4 though. Could be worse.

I'm paying $130 a month for a cable/tv/phone package from Comcast. I'd dump the TV and phone if I could, but cable by itself would cost more, so I just use the internet and like, 5 or 6 out of 400-something channels of nothing to see.

I remember the days of modems, Kermit, x/y/zmodem, parity settings, Trumpet Winsock etc. and surfing BBSes. I've forgotten a lot of the **** I used to mess with.

BTW, I still have a 4800 baud modem (might be 9600 these days?) - except in this case, it's inside my TDD. I'm just happy they have phone jacks now, instead of phone cups. Although I haven't used it in a few years, since I discovered internet relay services.

DSL service to my house went out. Again. For over a week. Again.
So I told them to not bother reconnecting me whenever they had their issue resolved, then called comcast for cable internet service.

DSL (old and busted)

Cable (new hotness)

Same price for internet service either way, but the kicker is I no longer need a home phone line so my actual outlay was pretty much cut in half.

Guess I'll bump this with my newer shiz. It's actually a bit low right now for some reason, it's usually around 15-16.

Same connection, same computer, different time. (And w/o two other laptops being used on the same subnet...)

5x fast download, essentially the same upload...
