Default How much do you pay for track days?

It looks like they are really cheap here, now that I'm looking into them. Our local track, Mid America Motorplex has Fast Fridays. Cost is $120 from 9am to 7pm or $80 for 1pm to 7pm which is plenty of time for me.

When private groups rent the track, such as FindTheLine, they are $125 for Saturday or Sunday, $225 for all day Saturday and Sunday.

The track is new, like 4 years old, and in really good condition.

Motorsports Park Hastings is even newer - I think they are on their second year and is the same money, but is a two hour drive vs one hour for MAM.

So, what do all of you pay for track days?

Like I replied in your other thread, $165 usually, but I've seen as high as $200. There was some FOPIR event (Friends Of Portland International Raceway) in February to help raise money, and that was the cheapest event I've been to for 4x30 minute sessions at $90. The thing that's pissing me off lately is that they're all on weekdays. I'm already spending the $160-$200 for the track day, I don't want to also loose either a full day's pay or a full days worth of paid vacation. Weekend track days are getting harder and harder to find, my car's a weekend warrior after all.

BTW, I think there was a fairly comprehensive thread about track day prices a while ago, might wanna try a search.

Well, they do still sell land by the acre here, unlike the coasts where it goes by the square foot.

I've got a ~4 hour track event Friday, $119. 20 cars (only Miata) with 8 instructors. The most expensive is a full day event ~$225.

What he said. However some of the local "school" poz you with **** like required $80 inspections at the BMW dealership...so not only do you have to drive to the other side of town, but you get to pay an additional $80...and take time off from work. I'm just about "over" running with those ------s anyway because they **** and moan, flex bullshit authority, and always try to touch my ****. The schools here are gay as **** and won't let you run the "adult groups" if you don't have a $300k car because the rich people get pissed off when miatas runs over their shame.

Depends on the club and track, but $180/day is the cheapest I've seen, and a weekend with Chin cost me $600-ish.

Free! I run twice a year at Nashville Super Speedway with the local Mustang Club. They have about 20 SCCA guys work as corner workers for a few hours, then let you run with them the rest of the day for free. I usually spend 2-3 hours working and get 4 or 5 20 minute sessions in exchange.

Road Atlanta is pretty pricey - NASA, BMWCCA, and Porsche Club all run events, but it is usually like $400 for the weekend (not to mention BMW's restriction on convertibles). SCCA has PDXs at their events - usually like $125 for two 20 minute sessions.

EUR 200-300 a day, under that does not happen or it's a drift event at an air base.

Cheapest retail-price event I've done was $140. Most are in the $180-200 range, with tracks like Laguna and Sears Point asking a little more. Cheaper in the winter, pricier in the summer, weekdays are usually a little cheaper.

The entry fees are a pittance compared to the gas costs. $50 into the Miata per day, at least $50 into the Suburban to get there and back, plus a hotel, plus tires, plus brakes, etc. I think someone calculated it once at around $500 a day.

Where was the $180 track? Everything I've seen in South FL seems to be $300+

Track days in the NW run $60 to $250. Cheap at the BS airport track in Bremerton WA. $200-$250 for club days at Pacific Raceway near Seattle. $165 - $200 at Portland Int. Raceway. $200 at the new Oregon Raceway Park in Central OR. Prices are for club days with or without instruction.

Did a quick look at Motorsportreg.com for HPDE. Looks like VIR runs around $240. Carolina Motorsports Park $100-140. Taledega $175. Miller $275-300. Limerock $300. Watkins Glenn $200. Sebring $200.

One thing I learned doing some further lurking around the country. Lot's of race tracks have horrible websites for finding info on HPDE. No club links, no schedule or other basic information. Jeez. They are running a business. The more help they are getting people out to club days, de days, etc. the more business they will have. It looks like some of them treat clubs renting the track for hpde as competition for there own track schools. Stupid. Not a good way to do business.

Hehe, the dollar amount indicates the last event I ran, about a year ago. I don't remember the club, but that's what the daily price worked out to be when I signed up for a full weekend. I asked a friend how much the track days cost now, and I **** when I found out the prices have jumped $50-$75 per day.
