GSX project located in Spain. They were claiming to build a 900hp+ 10k RPM GSX. It is obvious these people are completely clueless. Pictures tell it all.

Six colors of paint, China-everything, uber airbox that ate up a bunch of time and then was subsequently replaced with an open filter, ummm, creative porting, stock headgasket to run 20+psi, eating chinacharger on startup, replacing with I believe another chinacharger for the biggest loss ever.

it did make 300+ hayche peas before it rattled itself apart though.

I love the sin grooves in the head. all the previous detonation says a lot too.

The grooves in the head are called Singh grooves. Nothing to laugh about, many drag racers use them. But that's not the way they're supposed to be done.

So many great quotes, like " is he going to weld the airbox shut ?" The Brits are as entertaining as the original thread.

If I turboed my car without a kit this is how it would be :(

mitsus has a factory MLS gasket, no reason it will not hold 20+psi. the theory of those grooves are legit, but they are used completly wrong. and the second turbo is no chinacharger, its a baller turbo, precision is a BIG name in turbos. http://www.precisionturbo.net/index.php

Checked out some info on Singh grooves. Haven't really heard any negatives about it. Has anyone found any empirical data on this?

"I've done several grooved heads, both NA and turbo applications. 2 Saturns were raised 1 point from 9.5 to 10.5:1, both running 87 octane, neither activating the knock sensor (checked with a scan gauge) even at 20 mph 1/2 throttle in 5th gear. Turbo applications seem to be good for about 4-5 psi extra boost on same fuel."

yeah the grooves have merit....just not those. I love the video, idles great, backfires means it's faster.

to be honest, i have only seen them done on small 2 stroke motors. and they are VERY popular in the gas r/c car world when you port the motors on them.

This is proof that just because you have a shop full of all the right tools, doesn't mean you know how to use them.

It pisses me off to see people do stuff like that to cool cars which aren't as readily available. When miatas start to become scarce, I'll buy a junker...just in case.

Alright. After reading the Singh information, this is my understanding. The grooves or lines are created to expose more of the air fuel mix to the spark plug upon ignition and to help create turbulence in the quench area for better mix and burn. In theory, as the piston hits TDC, the fuel outside of the quench area is not directly exposed to the spark plug, meaning that it takes longer for the total amount of fuel to burn during ignition. With these Singh groves, you introduce the fuel outside of that quench area to the spark plug, without increasing the volume by much. This also allows mixing of the fuel and air during compression.

That's what I got in like 5 minutes of reading, so if I'm off base, then I'll have to read again. I'm gonna look into this more anyhow.

Stock they are pretty reliable. People run into problems because they're so easy to add power too. I added 100hp for $600. Now do you think any of that $600 went to a better clutch, upgrading my 120k mile hoses or gaskets, getting rid of my balance shafts or in any other way doing anything to help the car handle the added power? Of course not. :)

Look at the Miata though, probably one of the most reliable stock cars there is. But if you want to make over 250hp reliably you need a new rear end, new tranny and maybe a new bottom end.

it was funny before but after seeing that clutch... someone is going to get hurt.
