Anyone in VA?
I am considering taking an internship this summer in VA, but have lived all my live in Ok so this would be a big change for me. Anyone live there or have any opinion on the place. From what I understand, I will be fairly close to D.C.
Thanks

If you are going to be close to DC it will be a big change from OK. Still DC is a fun town. I just moved here this past summer thinking I wasn't really gonna like it but it's got it's upside... one of them being some pretty hot looking women.
City living is definitely different. Plan on carrying change for meters, learning that you can't park anywhere without paying and that speed cameras and redlight cameras are everywhere.

what do you want to know? I moved out to capitol hill from northern california two years ago. I spent 30 yrs in cali. it's a pretty big change from that but manageable.
what area you live in makes a big difference. if you're near metro then you're about 500% better off. driving into and around the district takes a while to learn/get used to. if you're in the 'burbs, it doesn't matter much since they're the same everywhere.
there's tons of us out here though. me, braineack, rappadan, shuiend, newbsauce, markp, and a bunch of others.

People from virginia would never think of moving into the district for a job in DC. Anytime you meet a normal individual who lives in DC 10:1 he's from out of state....like y8s. :gay:
where about is the internship? The biggest complaint I have here is traffic, then cost of living.

I had no idea there were so many of you out there. I guess that helps to know I won't be totally alone. I believe the internship is in Reston. I still need to talk to them a bit more, but the pay is pretty good and I think it would be a good experience for me to venture out. Maybe meet some of you guys face to face.

From what I've been told I generally will live with another intern, but the didn't specify where or anything. They also said they would fly me down there along with my stuff, but I think it would be difficult for me not to have the miata down there.

hey reston. yes I work in reston. personally it's not my cup of tea for places to hang out (too much beige) but it's fine for a job.
I can get to/from work in 35 minutes most days living on capitol hill.
