Sell NA as d0rift0 car for more than NB is worth, buy the used 2560 FM2 kit in the classifieds right now, make 225-250hp NB, profit

Thanks. I'm actually reconsidering getting the NA out here now, its $1000 to get it shipped out here and I'm getting the itch to start my project like right meow. Plus the NA doesn't have a torsen and the NB does, the only thing the NA has going for it is the roll bar and the fact that I like the way it drives a little more.

So... I might be getting a Lincoln Town Car. Exact opposite of the Miata, but damn comfy. 2002, Executive model, black and black, low miles, super clean, $3000. I think I'm going to jump all over it.

Everyone I have told so far about my plans have busted out laughing. They say they can't picture me in a Town Car. I can, driving in comfort, automatic, good a/c, smooth and quiet ride. A nice change after daily driving a ragged out Miata for 6 years. At least I have experience driving tractor trailers and big box trucks. That should be adequate training to drive such a gunboat of a car. Like driving two Miatas welded together end to end.

I also wouldn't mind a Mark VIII LSC

I loved the lines of the Mark VII. I had two of them; an 86 and an 89, then I got into Miatas.

******* Chrysler. Mom calls me and explains there's a ticking noise from the Jeep. Gets worse as she takes it home. Also starts making a nasty squealing sound. I figure its either a nasty ex. leak or more likely the crank pulley has given up. It's got 160K miles.

Get there this morning, nothing obviously wrong. Hugh. Fire it up. This POS has a rod knock like I expect from a LeMons car. Piece of utter substandard ****. This thing has torched a transmission (2 years ago at like 125K) its needed a new radiator at like 100K, its electronics periodically have oddball issues, its junk. I hate this POS. Come to find out as well that to use a 04 or newer engine (which are several hundred cheaper) I'll need to open that up and put a new reluctor wheel on the crank. After buying 3.7L worth of fail.

Looks like I will be doing my first short block rebuild on one of the most pathetic engines ever.

**** you Chrysler. **** you with a bowling ball and a cactus. I own 2 vehicles over 150K. My NA has been raced, off-roaded, and generally battered. My S10 has been jumped, pretty much never maintained properly, and reved way higher than it likes. both run like clock work. This ******* Liberty has been babied all its life, scheduled maintenance done, and its been costing $$ non stop.

This is why Chrysler can be bought by Italians and its a move for the better.

Yeah, IDK about the newer Jeep motors. I've only had the ol' 4.0L straight six in a Wrangler and the trusty 5.2L V8 in a Grand Cherokee. Both of those were absolute gluttons for punishment and abuse.

Had the 5.2l V-8 in the Dakota. Although it was still a 318 back then. Better mileage than the 3.7l V6 in the Jeep, and better power as well. Never a hiccup. When I replaced plugs at 110k, it looked like they had never been done - coulda sworn I did it at 80k or so - but it still ran.

Jeep needed new plugs every 25-30k or it would misfire, throw codes and go into limp mode.

Whats funny is if you look at the TQ on a 3.7 vs a 4.0 HO. The 4.0 is the better engine save for emissions. I will never understand why they did not at least try a cross-flow head on that engine with all else being more or less the same. When you floor a 3.7 its got no guts at all until it revs up, but it does not rev high so you sort of get decent output for a moment then its gone again. Seriously feels like a large 4 cylinder from the 80s, but with the mileage of an early 90s V8.

Honestly the 4.0 Cherokee is one of the few products from this vehicular downward spiral I would own. A friend had one that ran on 5 cylinders for like 30K miles because fried injector. It still kicked *** off road. Once the injector issue was resolved it was incredible. Basically it had a set of lift blocks for a Chevy and crappy 31 inch tires. We gutted it, mostly because of the smell. It had about 205K when he bought it. Not sure what it was at when he sold it.

I took the Liberty (pun intended) of marking in bold all of the key points and problems.

why does the sport package on the X model of the G37 not give you the extra sports parts? (the shocks and brakes)

Like why even call it a sport package, if the only thing you're getting is 18" wheels, and slightly different seats, and paddle shifters.

Its dumb though. you cant get an X model with the 245mm tires, and sport shocks/brakes.

oh well. basically if you get an xS, you're basically securing the fact you got premium package and nav, plus paddle shifters, a different front fasica (barely), and 12-way adjustable seats. hella sport.

but good to know. I thought I'm getting an X model, but I don't need an S now.

I assume you are talking about a sedan then?

As for the coupe, in the later models, although you couldn't get the staggered wheel/tire setup (because AWD), you could get the larger brakes and 19x8.5 wheels (which could fit 245's), plus the sport suspension and VLSD.

If you have to have a sedan, you can always add (mod) the brakes/wheels/tires/paddle shift/seats/facia with stock sports parts and upgrade the suspension w/aftermarket. I haven't heard of anyone doing the VLSD swap though, so I can't speak to that.
