I was looking at the manual method some outfits say they've had good results with, but I take you don't think it works?

Eh, I've only done the method I posted about, not sure about the others. I don't do a whole lot of evo's

*edit: it was with evoscan now that I think about it, not ecuflash

I overheard this in line while ordering lunch yesterday, I can't make this up.

Cashier: Would you like to add a cup of our soup to go with the sandwich for a dollar fifty?

Woman: No, absolutely not. We don't eat soup, we are a dry family.

They are just doing their part to conserve water by abstaining from overly moisturized foods.

It's ridiculous. We've got an '08 WRX sedan with like 80k miles on it, it's the spiffy WR blue. Our DEALER COST on the damned thing after reconditioning is over $21k.

I honestly have no idea, and neither did the poor cashier girl. She was not prepared for that type of response.

I have two choices:

1. Go ahead and take the BRZ down the path of relatively uncomfortable DD for the sake of it being an awesome HPDE/Auto-X.

2. Slowly return the few things I've done back to stock, so next year I can trade it in on either a:
a. '17 STi (only if they give it an FA based motor)
b. Focus RS
c. Audi S3 or possibly RS3 if I can find a better job, lol.

1. BRZ is already a relatively uncomfortable DD, so go for it.

Or:
2. This is probably a good idea;
a. why not just buy a WRX and save yourself all the monies
b. This is a pretty cool choice, but prepare your anus for ADM and other BS
c. Golf R? Cheaper than S3 and just as good. RS3 = awesomesauce but so much money...

1. Actually stock they aren't bad. But more than doubling the spring rates and going to 255/35/18 Direzza Star Specs hasn't helped.

2. It's what I should do, but lame.
a. Because no real diffs.
b. ADM?
c. Don't like the looks and it's only about $4k cheaper than an S3 with no options, and the only real options I want are the Magnetic Ride Control ($1500) and the Bang and Olufsen sound ($875).

Would probably go M235i. EDIT: Holy ****. A real diff in this car is a $3k option, that's insane.

The S3 with only a tune is ~350hp and 3.9 0-60!

1. I just can't stand the torque dip stock, and that motor is so abrasive and the car is pretty stiff stock. I can't imagine what it would be like with double the spring rates. Wow.

2. Kinda lame, but does open up lots of options -- the landscape for new, sporty cars is pretty damned fantastic these days.
a. But for a DD, does that really matter? Or are you talking combo DD/HPDE/Autox car? Locally a stock '15 WRX with better tires (star specs I think) was less than half a second off the FTD at a PCA autocross. Car looked fantastic. Have you driven one?
b. Additional Dealer Markup. I'm sure that'll be involved with the RS like it was with the GT500. It's gonna be a rare little guy. do we know pricing yet?
c. Good point. $4k is still a considerable amount of money but brand cachet and if you don't like the looks then that easily makes up the difference.

1. It still doesn't even ride to terribly with the Ground Control coilovers. Most of the harshness came from the super stiff sidewalls of the of Star Specs.

2. I know, that's why I'm considering ditching it for something faster that's also a bit more practical (don't have the nice big road trip car in the other half of the garage now I'm single again.)

a. One of my favorite things is steering the car with my right foot as God intended. But yeah, I'd like a true "do it all" type car. Maybe I should go test drive a WRX just for the hell of it. Maybe I could get them to let me test drive an STi as well, lol.
b. Ahhh, OK. I haven't seen anything on pricing just yet, at least for the US market.
c. It's really just the looks, I don't mind the 4 door hatchback (which would be damn useful) but I do really like the way the Focus RS looks.

I'm sure they'll let you drive them. I know we aren't too picky about who we let drive as long as they seem interested.

Good luck.
