You should probably complete your AA before transferring. You'll be a lot more marketable if you already have shown some degree (lolz) of dedication to your education (rhymin' and stealin'). I'm going to assume that you're old as **** (25+) and work full time (8 hrs+) and that you are going to attempt to balance all of this, a relationship with a woman (I'm hoping) and an interest in cars. Good luck.

As far as selecting courses goes, take all of your general education courses and make every effort to avoid having to take basic classes at a "real" school where you'll have to pay twice as much; in your case, you'll be going out-of-state which is ******* retarded unless you think you'll be able to qualify for some sort of need-based grant or scholarship (GL THERE, WHITEBOI). Your out-of-state tuition will be like 10x the cost of staying in-state, but it's only for a year so that's something you have to decide for yourself.

It's difficult to do correctly given your age and independence. I'm inclined to believe you're just pissing your money away and wasting massive amounts of time but that's just my opinion. If you can get back into the leernin' thing, then the more power to you, soulsista.

Yup, just barely over 25....28 isn't that far off...and workinf full time. You see, my motivation for getting the **** done is my job and my hobby. My job is...crap and I want money to burn when I so desire. I'm at the point where I can handle school and be OK and by the time I'm done, I won't be a bluehair and unmarketable to job positions.

I've got the transfer plan covered- enroll in a lesser school/technical school (selecing classes that transfer too) and wait in the penalty box until I'm considered "in state". Though looking through the requirements on that, it seems that it is possible to get an exemtion from "out of state" if one can prove their dedication to the area...aka proof of homeownership. Even if that doesn't work, 6 months seems to be the going rate to be converted to "in state" status. As for the financials, part of the reason I'm not married is so I can qualify to loans/grants/scolarships etc... because right now I can say I'm pretty low income. The GF and I have discussed this many times. Once I get to a real school, I shouldn't have a problem having money handed to me that I don't have to pay back. I'm sure there is a scolarship for being born a poor black child....

I think I have a different outlook on school, goals and what it'll take to get it all done since I was a HS dropout and took 10 years to see the real world and what it takes to get the **** out of shithole job positions. That's 10 years of motivation in my book. Pissing away time and money would have been going to school as soon as I had dropped out. I've done many of the things I though I'd want to do and found out that they all suck.

A degree in geology is actually becoming a rather marketable and, if you don't take 10 years to finish up, you should be able to break in before the hype causes many more new college students to study and enter the field.

Not really. I enjoy my job though. I guess I will see where this whole debt thing goes in the next year and decide.

Sure must be hard to be a recruiter in these times... "Uh yea so you *might* not get paid!".

I'm having to hear all that now from the recruiters. First is was just the Marines recruiter but now that my test scores are going around I'm getting it from all them. They NEVER mention the idea that there might be a pay cut or a pay freeze and I wouldn't expect them to do so That job has to suck for them right now.

Eh a I don't mind if they don't increase our pay. But cutting our pay would **** me off. And freezing our pay, even for a pay period would be total BS.

I don't care if the money comes from different places, if all these low-life douche bags are affording to live comfortably off the government for doing nothing they sure as hell better not stop my pay....

Ramble ramble.

Well, unfortunately the Army likes to abuse it's rule of "Soldier First". So us specialized folk don't get to keep up on our perishable skills, which = not very good at our jobs.

Contractors on the other hand do one job usually, and it's the job they were hired for.

Have you decided which branch you want to join? What'd you get on your ASVAB? I fucked it up, putting the answers for Q12 in the bubble for Q13 (and continued to do this tell the end of that section, only seeing my mistake w/ > 1 minute to go), ended up getting a 63, by brother got a 78.

I'm still on the fence. Right now it's a toss up between the Army and the Marines. The Air Force is trying to get me in their office but what I have gathered from my sister (Air Force Major) it really seems they don't offer much that interest me. I'm still farther away from a decision than I would like to be, but I did promise myself that I would sit with a recruiter from every branch before I jump in one direction. My brother ended up in the Army by a chance meeting with a recruiter and never looked into anything else. He's a Warrant Officer now and **** just worked out so well for him. I doubt my luck will be that good, lol. So for now I need to make sure my *** gets in every office and see what they can offer me.

I did well on my ASVAB. In high school I got a 88, last time I took it my score was over well into the 90's. I might see if I can take it again soon and max it out.

I've been meaning to send you a PM, you're a lot farther along than I am. I have some questions Prepare your anus for a large PM
