How (and why) to Ramble on your goat sideways
I understand how it works, but what I dont understand is why it even came about in the first place.
Why do people NEED paid time off? Why do these companies and corporations pay you guys to take the time off?
Say you want to take a 2 week vacation somewhere nice, why should Joe Blow Corp. pay you to? You feel sick and need to stay home for a day or two, why should you get paid for that?
Not trying to dog anyone really, I just think its part of the "lazy American" persona thatwe you give ourselves yourselves.

Remind me how much of the US lives paycheck to paycheck? It's a ridiculously large amount that I forgot offhand. "Paid" vacation is the same as unpaid, "paid" merely uses accounting tricks to help out people who can't budget well.
This is also why so many places allow you to "cash in" unused "paid" vacation, btw. "Paid" vacation is merely part of your compensation package, the same as your salary or health care or whatever.
You were raised differently.
I was raised to believe that happy employees perform better and work harder than disgruntled employees that are whipped and told they cannot take time off.
****, look at all the people who outright rejected public sector offers to take voluntary furlough days. What do you get when you refuse to let people have a paid day off? Labor strikes.

Paid vacation is teh win.
But seriously, as mentioned it's part of that balance of keeping your employees happy. And most anyone who gets paid vacation also doesn't get paid paid when they have to stay late. Obviously the method works.
Yeah, 30 days per year is pretty nice.

Anybody ever dealt with large power inverters for car/truck use? I'm speaking 2000W+, hard wire in, not shitty cigarette lighter plug in ones. I'm needing one, and am currently looking at this Tripp-Lite model, 3000W continuous.

I've always had good luck with that brand for other things power supply related. Anybody have a better suggestion, maybe for less?
Also, any advice for connecting one of those beasts to the battery? I guess just a terminal with an accessory stud and nut would be enough to handle that draw? This side of electrical always leaves me second guessing myself.

This is the plan. I thought about it more last night and this is the perfect opportunity to learn. I will run this computer in my daily until my Reverant MS2++++ arrives, I cannot deal with the factory tune any longer. Then, I'll start modifying this computatorator. This is for a 1994/1995 car so I'll need to change it over to 1.6 wiring, then up-convert to MS3x. The big problem right now is ignorance and I don't know where to start. Rather than follow a map blindly, I'd like to know what I'm doing...where is a good place to start?

Thanks for the offer, I will definitely take you up on it. Are there any simple, short books you recommend that will teach me the basics? I have a very rough understanding of how sensors work, but I don't understand some very simple things. Here is a list that will demonstrate my extreme ignorance:
- What changes in the computer to go from a CAS to the Hall type sensor.
- How do I set-up the computer to read square wave signals the way I want them to?
- I still don't understand how igniters and coils work
- Mathematics in general
- Female reproductive system
- What to change for a 1.8 to 1.6 harness, why we change it, and how we control the fuel pump.
- Unknown unknowns
Tuning stuff I need to learn fast for MS2 on Jeff's car:
- Injector timing and how to increase efficiency and output through manipulation
- Other unknown magic in Reverant's MS2++++
I'm pretty excited about learning this stuff, maybe more excited about building something than tracking my car this year.

Techincally nothing, the CAS is a hall effect sensor.
But the manual outlines the difference between a Hall and VR sensor: http://msextra.com/doc/ms3/ignition.html
Like VSS and ABS sensors or something? This is outlined in the maunal as well, stupid easy on the MS3x card where the input circuits are ready and able to input signals: http://msextra.com/doc/ms3/speedgear.html
It can also input vairous Generic sensors: http://msextra.com/doc/ms3/genericsensors.html
They amplify a signal and provide tons of electricity respectively.
2 + 2 sometimes = 5
Storks
Only a few wires need to move around.
We have to change it because the position of things like the TPS, tach out, fuel pump are in different locations between the two model years 90-93 and 94-95, but for the most part are the same. I have a diagram for each that shows the pinouts and where the changes need to be made for each.
The MS [should] controls the fuel pump in both instances, but the 90-93 required trickery in order to make it work correctly. I'm assuming the harness you picked up has a dangling pink wire. This will simply get moved onto the harness and will trigger the fuel pump on without anything special to be done.
how much wood could a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood? wait no, we know of this unknown.

Because the MS and tuning section is for adults, not my ignorant drivel. There are too many things I don't understand and I do not want to dirty up that forum. It is the holy-land. Behold it.

I understand that, but I'll go to Wiki or something for more info. I wish I had the math skills for engineering.

I thought I was getting:
- daughter board
- MS3x expansion card
- case
- MS3 wire harness/pigtail
- Jimstim
- jimstim power adapter

oh. yeah those extra things.
depending on how much is going in/out of the ms3x, the pigtail might be over kill. You can get the $5 colder cup and some wire and save a good chunk of change if you dont care about labeled/color coded wires.
jimstim I guess is needed, I forgot you dont have one.

Good thinking. I'm going to plug in the computer when i get it until the Reverant box arrives. Then, we'll start playing. I wonder what the turbo car will be like with sequential fuel, sequential spark, GM truck coils, EV14 squirters, and a CKP?
