Yeah, the hose analogy goes a long way.

Voltage is the pressure inside the hose. Current is the amount of water (gallons per hour) flowing through the hose. Load resistance is the diameter of the nozzle on the end of the hose, which for an ideal source (a water tower of infinite height and volume) interacts with voltage (pressure) to govern current (GPH), and for a real-world model (household supply plumbing of finite diameter) also interacts with current to affect voltage (too big of a nozzle and you're draining water from the hose faster than the household piping can replenish it, causing a drop in pressure (voltage) within the hose.)

When discussing the dynamics of airflow in a turbo inlet system, I use the drinking straw as an analogy.

Sometimes I think that there's a bacteria which poops posts onto MiataTurbo.net.

I therefore consider myself to be an immunologist.

At any given time, the urge to sing "The Lion Sleeps Tonight" is just a whim away.

So tonight I had to fire my friend that just started working for us last Thursday. He worked Thursday, Friday and Saturday, had Sunday off, came in Monday complaining about how he felt sick and blah blah blah, so I sent him home, he worked yesterday and then today didn't show up. I called his phone and he didn't pick up so I left a vm saying "where are you?". While we were in home depot picking up more lumber he called and left me a vm back, saying "I overslept, sorry, ttyl", rather than "bro, sorry I over slept, I hope you guys didn't leave yet and I'll try to catch you down at the shop, be there in 15".

Anyways, I let it go all day because I'm too busy to give a **** about his own personal life problems anymore than I already do, but decided to give him a call once I got home. We talked for a minute and it turned into him telling me it was wrong for us not to call him back, saying we were still in town and he could work (even though he was the one that didn't show up for work), that we aren't paying him enough and that I don't work that hard myself anyways.

Keep in mind, this is coming from someone that I grew up with, best of friends at one point, he's now a on/off crack addict, hasn't worked a real job in probably 4 years, doesn't pay his rent and SOMEHOW skates by, is on food stamps and govt insurance, steals lies and cheats his way through his sorry life. I already wrote him off in the past, but we needed to pick up an extra guy for a few big jobs and I gave him a shot. Yesterday, I gave him a brand new pair of steel toe boots, a stick of deodorant and the last $10 cash I had on me for gas.

We got into it a little on the phone and I ended by screaming back at him that he knows where to find me. If he shows up at the shop in the morning, I'm going to seriously hurt the ****. For his own sake, I hope he knows enough to stay away.

Have you driven one? I know it has IRS and I'm pretty sure it's got a T56. I'm also looking at C5s and I'm looking into miata turbo kits that would be carb legal.

you sound one tracked by the loan; Ford parts (something will break), fuel, routine maintenance, food expenses, and other luxuries, youre stateside, right? So its taxed, so what, 2.5k a month active duty?

I dunno man, imo its not a good call for a Ford, now if we are talking something dependable...

I keep singing "scream" lately. I believe it's cause there's only a few lines of lyrics, and that's something my feeble brain can grasp and remember. Repetition is the key.

lyrics:

A chill runs up your spine
It crawls into your brain
A freezing touch of fear

It's driving me insane
Although you try to fight
Dragged from the silence where you hide
'til you... Scream

Have you driven a T56-equipped car? It's a rock-crusher compared to a Miata gearbox.

Given the choice between a C5 and a Terminator, presuming I had no use for the Terminator's "back seats," I would pick the Corvette every time. When shopping for a Corvette, buy the cleanest one in your price range. [I used to own a C5.]

It's almost always better to spend at the time of your budget for a clean car than to "save money" by buying a less-clean version and trying to bring it up to snuff.

So last night was interesting. If you work in the [food] service industry, please keep reading...this one's for you.

I'll try to keep this from getting too long and I encourage it to be shared.
Last night, Jenn and I decided to go over to ...Taco Mac as they were doing a special on some 11' beers from Southern Tier and Great Divide. We arrived around 9pm, sat at a high-top near the bar and ordered our beers. As we watched a bit of the World Series game and talked, the table that was occupying the area by the front of the place, with about 6-7 people, caught my attention. They had their small child with them who was making all kinds of loud squealing/screaming noises and running around the area. Not a single adult at the table was paying attention nor trying to keep the little brat calm/quiet. Nope, just let him run amok as he pleased. So over an hour later, the child is wondering all over Taco Mac with one of the adults shuflfing along behind him. I do mean literally shuffling along...as in too fat and lazy to pick up his feet. Did I mention the whole table of people were very fat and unattractive people? I mean, they all looked like they were smuggling bowling ***** and frozen turkeys under their shirts.
So anyway.
Eventually our sever, who is serving them as well, can see that pretty much everyone left in the building is taking note of the child's ill-behaviour and is causing a disturbance and finally says something to the fat bastard who is following the kid around. I don't know what was said, but the adult started to get defensive, which caught the attention of the whole table (and everyone in the building) and before I know it, one of the other adults is physically confronting the server and intimidating him to the point where he is stepping back to avoid the man. The server eventually goes back into the kitchen and the man follows him. About 20 seconds go by and the man comes out from the back with the manager in tow. Some words are discussed, but I cannot hear them clearly, but then the manager points to the door and tells them to leave. I immediately start clapping, and Jenn follows (and I believe a few other people). The Fat Family does not like this. The short, round, troll-like woman starts yelling at us something about it being funny and about our children (ummm we don't have any?) and they all eventually leave. Also, WTF are you doing in a bar at 10:30pm with children?

I made sure to let the server and the manager know that they did the right thing and stood by their actions 100%. I also gave them my contact information as a witness because I know these vile people will probably call corp. and complain. The manager also gave me the DMs contact information and I will be sending him an email about the whole situation and how it was handled processionally and correctly by the staff at Taco Mac. People like that really make me sick. In talking with the manager, I was informed that these people are semi-regulars and are always causing a scene/drama up there and always complaining about every little thing they can. Eff these people. I wish people would take a stand against such scum more often.

Taco Mac- 1
Vile fat trashy family- 0
