Apparently Planet Fitness has banned dead lifts. Y8s and I did them anyways last night, but we came up with a new name for them in case we were hassled; I was calling them megasquirts. I can't remember y8s suggestion.

That is because planet fitness is a shitty gym. They do not carry heavy weights and do not like people actually lifting. The local ones also have random pizza nights to keep fat people happy. I would highly suggest finding a real gym to go to instead.

They carry heavey enough weights. Up to 50lb. dumbells and they have plently of 45lbs weights to stack on bars.

they do do pizza on teh first monday of every month and it's the best policy i've ever heard of.

planet fitness is also $10 a month to recieve the exact same service as the next cheapest gym in the area at $65 a month.

Stop being a Lunk.

Why "crap"? Personal opinion, or documented comparison?

I have already emailed and chatted with Corporate Douchebaggery by suggesting that they should ban BICEP CURLS which are truly worthless for anyone other than meatheads. They were no help.

I think the solution is to buy my own bumper plates and do **** in my basement and then go to PF and drop weights, grunt, and make a scene so they kick me out.

BTW, my new favorite forum game is telling people I will "ban you and your family if you XYZ again". I highly recommend it.

I am proud to say I have no idea what a dead lift or what a power clean is.

I love my gym. Dumbells up to 200lb's, deadlifts are encouraged, you can move any bar to any rack or bench and do whatever you want, grunt as loud as you want. Just clean it up when you're done and don't hog anything. I need to ask the owner about bringing in my own bumper plates for clean/******.

The owner lifts there and competes in jui jitsu tournaments. They have an area with mats and everyone is free to roll around whenever they want.

What's the justification for no deadlifts? Too much grunting and people dropping the weights from waist-height disturbing the people sitting on their stationary bikes while chatting on their phones?

Note to the latter: if you can carry on a normal conversation in the middle of a workout, you are doing it wrong.

damage to the equipment and floor, along with being a complete douche and without gaining any health benefit from a deadlift.

People who actually lift are not the target market for Planet Fitness.

I left the shop early to come home and get my paperwork ready to send to the accountant. Normally, I do my own taxes, but this year with PayPal reporting, I need to keep account of my eBay sales.

So far I haven't touched a thing! I need to do the entire year of 2012 today/tonight to send out by tomorrow. This should be fun. lol

What? Strength isn't a health benefit?

Also, the Google Maps car just drove down my street while I was retrieving the mail. I couldn't think of anything funny or interesting to do until it was gone and I had come back inside.

You dont gain "strength" from a one time lift to a waist, all it does is demonstrate your ability to use the viable muscles in the abs, legs, shoulders, and arms; but it doesnt build it up at all. Dropping it doenst do anything either, because it resets the rep.
