I've used this at times with success:

Not a huge fan of hair wax, mostly because I don't like the lasting greasy feeling which seems to transfer onto everything you come into contact with.

On the advice of Sal the grumpy Uzbeki barber, I use the LA Looks like of hair gel, which is one of the cheapest products of its type: LA Looks ? Hair Styling Gels | L.A. Looks

You can experiment a bit to find the one that works for you. They range from "hard as a rock" to "sort of more-or-less holds the hair in place."

Hell yeah Joseph!

but you all missed one important detail:

water-based.

I'm not looking for that Soul Glo Rick James bullshit.

I'm looking for the modern technology that washes out in plain water without soap. Not stuff that washes out after 3 days of shampooing with dishwashing detergent.

I ordered the layrite. I will report back to spite you all.

DK2 was, I believe, using a 1080p samsung note 2 or 3 panel (I forget). that's a very small # of pixels to stretch to 100 degree field of view. You're gonna see pixels.

Most people can resolve somewhere between 1 and 2 arcminutes per pixel. Rift DK2 is about 5.5-6.

We just released a product for a very large R&D institute that is 1.20 arcmin / pixel. It's Very Hard to see individual pixels.

As smartphone panels get more pixels, Rift will benefit. 4K phones are on the way. that means double the pixel density which makes a big difference. At that level, most people wont care.

Indeed, yes the dk2 uses 1920x1080 screen for both eyes. The release version is suppose to have the same hd model (maybe a different screen but same resolution). The 4k is in the works but they say it wont be released until the consumer 1080p model comes out.

I know this aint the VR nerdery thread, but the only thing I really think is great about the Rift is the fix they did for image persistence. Motion blur is a big problem with OLEDs.

Back to hair.

I buzz my hair off once temps reach 70. About the same time the miata comes out of the garage. Once temps drop below 70 I stop cutting. By Thanksgiving I need to use hair product. I love Aveda Men's Grooming Cream which works for me from buzzcut fro onward (Currently my hair is <4" long, it'd be much longer if it weren't for cutting it for PRI this past December) My hair is crazy frizzy with nothing in it after drying. Their Pomade was too thick/greasy.

I'm not sure if it's water based but it certainly washes out easily. Smells great.

Aveda Men Pure-Formance? Grooming Cream > Hair Care > Men > Aveda

I was able to get little sample tubes of everything from a hair shop that sells their stuff.

That was the whole point of my post. I also dislike the greasy feel of traditional pomades, and use the LA Looks product for that exact reason. It is water based, dries quickly, is non-sticky when dry, and rinses out easily in the shower without so much as a dollop of shampoo.

OK, fair enough.

But those are gel and not pomade. I'm familiar with gel. I used it in the late 90s when I frosted my hair and was in the band Sugar Ray.

*On Men's Haircare - I also dislike the greasy feeling, I also dislike having to wash whatever is in my hair out. I have short enough hair to where I can just use water + comb and use my hair's oil to form a shape. Am I greasy myself? No. I do wash my hair 2-3 times a week, but not everyday. I don't sweat everyday until TX summer rolls around. Thoughts?

I'd like to try a pomade in the future.

Too much work. I mostly just want to make sure my undercut doesn't turn into a mushroom. More Beckham, less Gordon Ramsay.
