No worries.

In reality, I'll likely have to move to a larger, and more expensive, city to get the kind of pay/opportunities I really want.

Ooorrrrrr... move here. Think of the trouble we could get into. We could smoke meat (nohomo) and drink beer all day every day on my deck.

There's even two houses for rent on my street. Both should be under a grand a month.

It would be nice to get since it would likely be a nice 5-figure raise.
Same, I'm looking at a 25% increase. Though it comes at a cost, as it's a long-term contract position rather than full-time. And I'll be leaving one of the top-10 "best companies to work for". So a lot of that 25% doesn't cover the awesome benefits that I have now. But the chance to move from testing boring business software to writing code for an IndyCar driving simulator is not something I can pass on.

Not sure there are as many opportunities there, need to go where there are a lot of gigs for Tech Writers.

If I move it would probably be Denver, Portland, or Salt Lake City.

That's a hell of an opportunity, when I first went into Tech Writing I took $1/hr more and lost my benefits so I could change careers. It's worked out though, in the last 7.5 years I've nearly doubled that initial salary.

Apparently they have little to no documentation, so if I do get the job and an opportunity opens up, I'll definitely let you know

Plus every once in a while Monk comes to visit for a little dude-love.

I just got offered a position as a professional fire-fighter out of the clear blue sky.
As an added bonus, my current company wants to keep me on as a scientist on my days off.
No resume required.

Based on your avatar, that does not seem like the best position for you...

That's not surprising. A lot of places are run on "tribal knowledge."

That could be worth a move though!

It is a scientific fact that all firefighters secretly think fire is awesome.

Fire is literally awesome. I watched 244,000 acres of my "neighborhood" burnt to a cinder in 2008. The "cabin" listed in that entry was my residence. Listening to giant coastal redwoods and tan oak exploding at night in the heart of the beast is definitely enough to inspire awe.

I also watched a crew of smokejumpers eat enough food to feed 200 Boy Scouts for a week. Mad respect for those guys.

Not a firefighter, but can confirm that fire is awesome.

And so is Colin Furze

The driver headlight in the NB has a problem turning on sometimes.
I've been tapping the bulb on the core support to get it to turn on.

This has been going on for months.

Spends thousands turboing car, won't spend $8 for a new headlight bulb. Yup.

His NB isn't turbo. I have a similar issue with the passenger bulb in my NB. Burns out every 2 months according to PO. It's burned out now. Things like this bug me.

Spends thousands on backyard paradise, abandons both cars.

Why replace something that isn't broken anyway?
I just find it funny that tapping the bulb makes it turn back on.

You should have bought a NA, the lights tap themselves.

My drivers light does the same thing.

Apparently Indiana just made it legal to shoot a police officer that enters your house illegally.

That could be argued to be legally protected federally.
