buy a cheap set of carbon steel steak knives and sharpen the tip yourself if it's not. 2 minutes on amazon shows a 4 pc set for $10.

Make friends with a chicken farmer lol. My friends have a big generator for their 3 chicken houses so they had it hooked up to their house and shop too. During sandy I stayed there for a few days stayed drunk pretty much the whole time too lol. We're pretty close to the water but there's a couple miles of marshland between us and the bay so even during sandy it wasn't too bad. The town a few miles down and right on the water is still cleaning up from that though.

Forecast track shifted a bit east.

Do you use video trigger on scopes? That's my next feature I'm implementing currently.

The euro model still forecasts it to go out to sea. The trough over the south east and how the two interact is the big question.

Just in case anyone wondered what Techsalvager was up to these days.

I can't fathom the amount of time, money, and effort spent on... well... i'm not even sure what he's trying to do.

We don't have a lot of analog video anymore, it's mostly SDI. In fact, I can think of only one place in the whole rack room where there's genuine NTSC video in use, and it's just a monitor output.

Since the fieldrate of 1080i SDI is identical to that of NTSC, we do still use analog composite sync (blackburst) quite a lot, and for that we keep a couple of old analog waveform monitors around. These devices are designed specifically to look at video signals, and sync themselves automatically. This is what one full frame of interlaced analog bars looks like on a waveform monitor:

However, for looking at sync, you can just as easily use any old conventional scope set for falling-edge-triggering, since a sync signal is at 0 most of the time. Here's what composite sync looks like on a conventional scope:

Tri-level sync, which is required by some newer HDSDI-only equipment, is even simpler:

It sounds like you need those knives that the hibachi chefs use. Dudes slice chicken and steak with those and look like they're drawing a hot knife through vegetable oil.

I kinda got the same feeling, but it was more akin to the discomfort one might feel when they realize that the person they've just laughed at is "challenged".

I couldn't even laugh at most of it, it was so dumb. The people supporting him are even worse.

I did laugh when he said he would never use another megasquirt though.
It must be much more complicated than running a wideband for every cylinder.
