Consider this question to be aimed at self-improvement on my part, a "how can I improve my responses in the future" type survey.

Were the following:
"The skull is anchored to the body by the tendons and ligaments of the neck, which attach to the skull at a point near the base. That's roughly where the fracture occurs. (...) The skull just tears in half from the forces generated by the rapid deceleration of the head as it tries to pull itself free from the body. That particular part of the skull happens to be the weakest link in the chain."
and
"The forces are trying to pull everything in the head and neck straight through the top of the skull. But the top is strong enough that when, literally, something has to give, the base--the weakest part of the skull--usually cracks."

Insufficiently descriptive of the anatomical process of the injury?

I was more reffering to your empire state building analogy. The rest of it was quite helpful. Some of the posts at the beginning were also just. "Your head gets thrown around".

It all came out of a discussion with my GF about what anatomical features would actually cause the fracture. At first looking at the connection of the neck and skull you would think that they would maybe pull out, or pull a chunk of bone off (had this happen in my friends knee).

So to answer your survey. Those answers were very helpful, the post about the empire state building was a copy (although much more detailed and helpful) was an edit that I mistook on my phone as a separate post.

In conclusion. I need to read the answers better and people need to read my questions better

Thank you all. You may continue with the rambling.

1. Yes.
2. No. Learn google + critical thinking

In conclusion, that was painful.

Back to rambling, this job thing is getting very annoying. Email from the Director of Quality on Friday said I should be hearing from HR early this week to move to the next step in the interview/hiring process.

Haven't heard anything yet. I suspect since the position has been removed from their site they have likely decided on me as the hire (I hope).

I've already interviewed with everyone (before the position was created), they created the position around me, and we talked about compensation before I even came in for the interview.

I know I need to be patient, but it's getting trying.

Like 4 people told me the exact same thing. "You're head whips forward". That answer tells me nothing about my question. I did basic googling. But Joe's answers are much prettier to read.

Empire State?!?!

Consider not that puny trifle of a landmark. My analogy was to 1 WTC, from whereupon one can look DOWN at Empire State!

See that tiny little spec out there in the distance? That's the Empire State Building.

It smells like capitalism!

(And, truthfully, the smell above-ground isn't too bad most of the year. It only gets really pungent during the summertime, when the garbage and urine have a chance to really bake in the sun. The subways are a different matter.)

Summer is the only 2 times I've visited NYC. I'm just not a city person. I get very claustrophobic. I stayed in the city about 4 hours and had to leave.

I understand the appeal. I just can't handle it.

Sometimes on the weekend I like to just meander about aimlessly through different neighborhoods. You come across such wonderful aromas, particularly in the more ethnic neighborhoods south of Houston, as well as in the more touristy areas where the street-meat vendors and food trucks are about in full-force.

Then you go uptown into the residential neighborhoods and its a totally different vibe. Quiet, cozy, almost serene as you stroll down tree-lined streets past hundred year old apartments.

The skull is made up of different plates that fuse together. They can sometimes crack at those same fault lines if subjected to the right forces, from what I understand.

I UNDERSTAND THE PHYSICS, I JUST NEED AN EXPLANATION OF HOW THE INJURY OCCURS.

The force of the impact (eg, sudden deceleration) pulls your head forward. Your body cannot move with it because you're strapped to your seat.
How did this answer at all tell me about tendons and ligaments in your neck pulling on the base of your skull causing a fracture in a weaker part of the skull.

You literally explained what happens in a crash. No ****.

I think we keep avoiding that aspect of this conversation
