What's your price range? What are you looking for in features?

Is it wrong that I discovered a new Punk band that I like from hearing one of their songs in a porno?

Price range is under $18,000, wants and needs... needs to be at least a V6, at least 25mpg, seats 4 people, features aren't too important, would of course prefer leather seats, nav and other stuff is not required. Don't really have any particular car or manufacture in mind. Just something that is comfy, seats 4, gets decent fuel economy, and of course looks nice. Would like to avoid something too terribly slow and boring if possible. Only thing that has somewhat caught my eye is a Mazda 3 5 door, newer models. Haven't actually seen one or been in one, so that is just going on internet pictures. Also considering Acura TL or RL.

WRX, 328is, 540i, Ford Fusion Sport AWD, Chrysler 300C (maybe 25mpg?)/Charger, Mini Cooper S (seats 4?), GTI, Lexus IS300, Mercury Marauder, Nissan Sentra SE-R & Spec-V/Altima SE-R/Maxima SE, Cobalt SS, Volvo S60 R & V70 R

WRX, no, not comfortable in my opinion, 328is, maybe, but German interiors to me are too simplistic and just don't appeal to me, 540i same again, but I do love me some 5 series, Ford Fusion Sport AWD, no thanks, Fusion is crap, Chrysler 300C (maybe 25mpg?)/Charger, no thanks, I'm not hood enough, Mini Cooper S (seats 4?) not my style, and too small, GTI, possible VW, but it would be a Golf diesel, Lexus IS300, no ,i work on Lexus, I don't want to also drive one, Mercury Marauder, hell no, Nissan Sentra SE-R & Spec-V/Altima SE-R/Maxima SE, hell no on all accounts, but I do like the newer Maxima, but it's out of my price range, Cobalt SS, no no no, Volvo S60 R & V70 R, Volva ain't my thing.

I think I just no longer find much appeal in newer cars. All of the cars I really like are 10+ years old, and worn out. My next daily can be no older than 8 years old, and no more than 80k miles. Finding a car I think will just take me a lot of time. I'll have to stumble upon THE car.

You know the coolest thing about taking my daughter to the Circus tonight was all of the smoking hot athletic acrobat chicks. I mean daaaeeemmmnn...

Those guys that ride the motorcycles in the big steel ball of death are freaking nuts. Seven all at once. Five going around the 'equator' with two on an intersecting high inclination orbit. Crazy stuff. And, one of them was a woman.

Think if one of them wrecks. It's not just going to be one of them, it would likely turn into all 7 of them, laying in a pile at the bottom of the ball, with hundreds or thousands of pounds of metal and hot exhausts burning the person at the bottom of the stack.

I may do the Forester XT like I wanted recently. If I can find one that is. Decent comfort, good looks, not boring, decent economy, seats more than 4... plus I could tolerate driving it daily, and would probably get the bug to tinker with it and at least bump up the boost a bit and do some bolt-ons.

On a related note, to you Subaru guys ( I know you are here!) is there anything major required to swap the SOHC 2.5 in the non XT Forester to the DOHC turbo 2.5 from say a WRX? Finding an XT would be tough work, but finding a non turbo Forester is easy work, then later find a low mileage WRX engine to swap into it.

This seems to be getting away from my original goal though, of having something to just DRIVE! I'm tired of having a daily I have to work on.

S60R is a pretty badass car but I can't get over the shift boot or lack thereof. My mom test mulled over them a lot before she bought her Benzo.

Join 18psi and myself in the miata/fxt club. Oh wait he doesn't have a miata anymore.

Subie used engines are expensive. I think it would be painful.

I'd think the electronics would be a challenge.

The XT (and I assume WRX) use EBC, a wideband sensor, DBW, a really funky variable fuel pump controller, all sorts of interesting (but complex) stuff. I have no idea whether the stock Forrester had provisions for any of these.

On the other hand, I happen to have a complete XT engine, wiring harness, turbo, exhaust, ECU, gas pedal, and all accessories sort of sitting around doing nothing.

I must say, the XT is a decent car. Even with the majority of the body still attached, it's surprisingly quick.

I may just look for an XT outright then. Might have to broaden my search beyond 100 miles. Damn Alabama and it's lack of decent cars.

Have you driven a S60/V70R before?

Dammit, I replaced my fuel filter and it still feels "flat" up top. My lappy toppy was dead so I didn't get to log, but I'll do that later today. I guess the next step would be a fuel pump....then have the injectors cleaned. Dammit, I don't want to be chasing this **** for months...or I may be liable to sell the damn thing.

I've been for a ride in one, not driven.
