Yay, drove my car again for the first time in months. Took off the gearbox brace and now have sufficient clearance for the speedmountains in my street. Almost forgot how much fun it is to drive

So I am about to buy my first pick up truck. It is a 97 F150 Lariat 4.6L V8. The plan is to use it for just towing the miata to and from the track. Right now it needs a new radiator and possibly an AC compressor. After that the plan is to install a transmission cooler and flush the transmission. It should be good for towing around the east coast then.
So I was in the bathroom reading Reddit on my Inspiron 1525 laptop that had a new 5400 320gb hard drive. I flushed the toilet, and continued to read about different website easter eggs. Apparently the toilet didn't accept my excrement and clogged. Annoyed, I continued reading, but failed to notice that the toilet was still adding water for a longer-than-normal period, up until the point where part of me felt something cold. In a panicked craze I jumped up, turned around, and noticed that the bowl was a centimeter away from dumping waste all over the floor. I stood there in disbelief trying to figure out what was going on for longer than I should have, and then immediately went for the water shut-off valve in the back. It was stuck. Not only that, but I managed to knock over my laptop that I had perched on the bathtub edge in the chaos. With the bowl nearing maximum capacity, I opened the tank only to find that the flapper valve was stuck open. I quickly reached in to close it, and the impending disaster was averted.
After everything had been sorted, I pulled the laptop out of the tub, and to my dismay the screen was frozen. I tried rebooting and restoring Windows 7, but all to no avail.
My first question, is there anything I can do to get my hard drive to boot and run properly again?
If no to the first, I was looking at SSDs and was wondering if there are any reputable brands out there because many reviews seem to be a hit or miss with the product.

pull the drive and attatch it to another machine and pull all the files, in win7 everything you need should be under C:\users\*user acct name*
after that, doa full format, if its just a few bad sectors they should get flagged and the rest of the drive should function as normal assuming thats the only damage

For example, students were asked this question: "A bat and a ball cost $1.10 in total. The bat costs $1.00 more than the ball. How much does the ball cost?" The intuitive answer — 10 cents — would be wrong. A little math on the fly reveals that the correct answer would be 5 cents.
After answering three of these questions, the students were asked to rate a series of statements on belief, including, "In my life I feel the presence of the Divine," and "I just don't understand religion." Students who answered the three questions correctly — and presumably did a better job of engaging their analytical skills — were more likely to score lower on the belief scales.

can someone please tell me how the answer is .05c?
(X+Y)=1.10, X>Y by 1.00
x = (X-1), or x=Y
x+Y = .10 (We subtract 1.00 from the 1.10, due to using x), since x=Y, it's just 2x.
.10 / 2 = .05, or Y and x are 5 cents.
Since we have x, then we get X by adding $1.00 (x is X-1, to reverse this we add 1)
Or, X is $1.05 (The bat), and Y is $0.05 (The ball).
$1.05 + $0.05 is $1.10, so our math checks out.
