Hydrophobic coating - it's about time!
I wonder why this product didn't appear 20 years ago:

I'm tired of only seeing this on the internet, when will it start showing up as a feature on products being sold?

Click linky.
Find out it's being sold already. |
I saw it on Home Depot today. It's a two part process that has to be redone when the effect wears off. Looks really awesome.
|
Word is it has terrible UV resistance, and consequently is poop for outdoor applications. One can only hope they develop it into something awesome in years to come.

While this stuff appears to be awesome in demos, actual use is nil. It washes off very easily and any sort of abrasion takes it away as well. So once its coated, never touch it or let it get wet and it will last forever...

From what Ive seen it also leaves a film, so windshields are out as well. (not to mention the abrasion from road debris, and from the wipers.)

303 high tech fabric guard has been out for years and does almost the same thing, is only one part, and works decent on my shoes.

There's this site.
http://www.ultraeverdrystore.com/ Last time I looked at this site they were selling the 2-part package in huge 50 gallon oil-drum type things. It's also supposed to stand up better to abrasion, But it still leaves the non-clear residue. |
