I don't think the hyper re-route is better than the "cold-side" version. That being said....
I think it may be more efficient than at shedding heat that the OE setup. Coolant flow seems a bit more even, compared to the OE setup. The heater-core hot dump (into the #3 cylinder area) seems poor. It would have been easier to recirculate back into "to-the-rad-inlet" tube. For track cars, deleting the heater core seems like a no-brainer. Heater-core flow on the hyper version seems like it would slightly lower temps, thanks to the check-valve, and the extra mini-radiator. All said and done, I still think the hyper re-route is poor. Too many failure points, is my main gripe. The "hot-side" part of the equation is just dumb. Why run it on the hot-side, when you can radiate the heat to the semi-ambient air above the intake manifold? It's basically a cold-side reroute, made by someone who bought the wrong elbows, and decided to just run it on the opposite side. I do like the heater-core heat-exchanger, maybe tie the oil cooler/throttle body lines in? Nah, I'd just make my own reroute. ;) |
The reroute above is not his current reroute.
It's a regular old tried and tested reroute that he learned from us here, but then he added the extra heat exchanger holy grail after a heat exchanger. Currently, as far as I can tell, he blocks the front outlet and sends all the water from the back of the head through the heater core outlet back to the thermostat housing. To promote flow he drills a hole in the thermostat or removes it. He also sends loops the water pump for no reason. I will illustrate this. |

94-97 coolant reroute question (NEED HELP CANT FIND THE ANSWER) - ClubRoadster.net Almost positive that's the thread he got banned from CR in. I may know.... That's what he's most recently been trying to sell people on. |

Nipple that normally feeds to intake from engine leaking oil - ClubRoadster.net That marks the 3rd time i've gotten him banned. I just make him look dumb until he rages, then i report him, he gets banned. Comes back in a month or two, the circle of life continues. |

Well... I've just wasted 90 minutes of my life reading all this crap that I won't ever get back. I stumbled across it because I am researching routing the heater return hose into the upper radiator hose (post thermostat, traditional reroute, on a track-only car).
I realize this will cause the car to take a bit longer to heat up but should increase the overall thermal capacity since the water pump will get only cold water from the bottom of the radiator and all of the hot water from the engine will pass through the radiator before getting back to the engine. All I was trying to find was a 1.25" x 1.25" x 5/8" Y adapter to put in the GM hose. :vash::vash::vash: |
