You might have missed my point.. until the thermostat opens there is 0 flow across the rest of the block. Once the thermostat opens water is still getting recirculated through the useless loop again bypassing the block.

No I got the point, I guess I didn't lay the sarcasm on thick enough.

But seriously it's OBVIOUSLY more important to have cold water running to the WP until the thermostat opens, because otherwise there would be no flow in his system and the water pump could easily burn up :giggle:

Legitimately..

What about parasitic losses?

Honestly.

What about them? The water pump is going to pull the same power off the belt pretty much no matter what and pressure differentials is what drives flow. If you look at how much coolant is currently routed I have strong doubt that the coolant flows through my oil cooler when the thermostat is open. But I know it flows when the thermostat is closed so it does its job of warming up the oil. If I ever switched to racing the car for more than 60 seconds at a time I would add more oil cooling, but probably leave this as the oil warmer.

if we just get Hyper to join this thead, we will have the EPIC TRIFECTA

Seriously. I don't think there is anything any more epic than when sjmarcy, Techsalvager, and Hyper participate in 1 thread.

The internet can barely handle it.

If you care so much about parasitic losses to the point to where you're looping useless loops to bypass water flow you got issues.

You missed Failflora, he posts there too, he deserves to be in the same bracket.
