Well Hello
Hi all!
I don't know if it's common to make presentation tread for the newcomers here, but I think it's better than just posting and coming out of nowhere.
So my name is Sébastien (yeah i'm french, don't beat me for it please!
) I'm 21 and I live in Canada, in the Quebec Province. I am a tig welder (just finished my course and began to work this past summer) and I work for a compagny that makes some hospital/veterinary tools washer (Steris Corporation). I dont' own presently a Miata but a little stock protege and I plan to buy a miata this summer. From what I read, I'd like to buy a 94-97 one but here, they are a little rare and the prices are just ridiculous. ( There's nothing down of 8000$ for theses years.....) So I think I'll just try to get one from Maine or Vermont since its just a 500 km from me or so.
I'd like to turbo it (
) and make a DIY kit for a 150 whp begin. I don't want any more power for the beginning since i'm don't have any mechanical talent (never did mechanics by myself) and even if I know it will be very hard for me, why not try? I can make my own manifold, dp and exhaust so it's already that good.
Well I think it's that. Please be forgetful if my english is bad, I never speak english where I live and I write only on the forums so....

welcome Sébastien.
if you are setting a 150whp goal, and you admittedly don't have a lot of mechanical skill, you may wish to consider a kit, such as the Greddy or BEGi S.
If you wish to go the DIY route, we are here to assist.
Also, for what it's worth, your English is much better than most people who post on web forums, even as native speakers. lol.

Welcome. Get a 94 and stay away from the heavy wheels. 17=bad no matter how light they are. that artie kid is polish so don't follow him

For the 150 whp goal it's only to get accustomed with the turbocharging side. I have the Corky Bell's book too . And I think I will possibly want to go MS after that.
Is the 94 for the OBD1 side Paul? Because here we don't have emission control so it doesn't matters.

Don't be afraid, the 15" 6UL will be my choice in the future I think! Or some OZ.

Anyway, the 94 is the best because it has the larger engine (1.8L) and the real oil pressure gauge. Read the book, it has alot of information. Also, when you build the kit, make sure it can support more than 150 hp. Beacuse you will want more haha. Eaither way, jst ask as many questions as you have, and we will answer.

Because MOST 17" wheels are heavy as hell.
As for the 6UL's, i literally just received an email from Emilio at 949Racing about half an hour ago saying he had to push the ship date back to February 18th due to tooling difficulties with the new 15x7.5 wheel. :( My RS2's are going to be awful lonely by then.

Yep we are lucky for this, but on the otherside, the police can send you to a mechanical inspection whenever they want.... And here, they are not tolerant with the exhaust. Not at all to say, the law says that it must be quiet as the OEM equipment, imagine! 
But most of the people who get amend are the one with by fart can.

Yeah I suspect that the 150 goal will not be enough if I reach it lol. But we'll see when I get there. I'm not into the big talks and plan when I don't even have the car. Most of the time a lot of people just shovels cloud and makes big talk about the car they will eventualy owns.

Not only that, try to buy some GOOD tires like rs2 or azenis for 17" and if you're able to not mortgage your house, well .... buy me a set too (but in 15's)!
Oh and forgot the ******* harsh ride.... I know I have 17" and full 2" drop with Teins on my protege and my dad never want to embark with me because each time I slowly further destroy his poor old back.
But well Miataz if you like that, do it. It's you car. But here I think there is a large number of people who solo2 and autocross their car so 17" is a no-no option for them.

Just a question, are you using a tanslator or are you writing english with what you know? Your not doing bad at all, just wondering. (I took french class for 4 years, and I suck at it) J'aime conduire ma voiture tres rapid, et toi? haha I dont know, I try.

No I write it all by myself, but I must admit that I use a translator sometimes for single words that either I don't know or reminber. It's easier to learn english than french. And it's easier to write than to talk too. I can write in english but if we were in face each others, I think it would be faster to get some sheets of paper and write what we want to say!!!! Or you would have to speak so slowly that you would think that you speak to a retard! lol
