I am issuing a challenge to you guys who think you can find PC cards
I need a cheap Chinese Ebay PCI internal soundcard that has two input jacks (separate left / right inputs). 1/8" jacks are fine but 1/4" jacks would be fantastic.
I need it to hook up the blue box seen on the floor at 0:25 and 1:35 of this video (feel free to hijack that shit out of this thread as soon as you find a soundcard for me): |
all that and he's the worlds worst drummer?
|
I used to be really into that shit when I was in highschool. I've seen cooler stuff than that but that was still really cool and way beyond anything I ever came up with.

This: Forté Media FM801-AU 4-Channel PCI Sound Card w/Game/MIDI Port CL-S801-4CH-DB
Plus one of these: Parts-Express.com:3.5mm Stereo Male to 2 RCA Male Cable 10 ft. | 3.5mm mini plug 1/8 inch 3.5mm stereo interconnect audio ipod mp3 player computer sound card (or other length, as needed) And two of these: Parts-Express.com:RCA Jack To 1/4" Mono Plug Adapter | rca jack rca adaptor adaptor adaptor 1/4" plug 1/4" jack 1/4 jack 1/4 adaptor This assumes that the two 1/4" outputs of your blue box (which I can't see since YouTube is blocked at work) are unbalanced mono. If they're balanced, a different solution will be needed. |

LEXICON ALPHA DESKTOP RECORDING STUDIO - eBay (item 140390051729 end time Mar-17-10 09:29:57 PDT) I'm worried because no matter what I get will fail to work (stuff like this always fails) <G>... |
Gimme a link to whatever this blue box is.

Oh, and here's what a typical pro-grade audio card with 1/4" TRS inputs looks like:

Hmm.
I've got the datasheet here for the current version (black, with little silver switches) and that one has balanced TRS outputs. If the blue one is the same (and no reason to think it's not) then the solution I posted above might work, but it'll be shorting the ring terminals to ground. That tends to piss off op-amps. Tell me how long you need the cable assembly to be, and give me your address. I'm assuming you already have a sound card with a 1/8" stereo input? |
Joe, I don't have a clue how you found that stuff but you are a good man! PM on the way...
